Torch Singer with Claudette Colbert - Give me Liberty Or Give Me Love (1933)

Claudette Colbert (Sept.13,1903 - July 30,1996) was a French-born American stage and film actress. Born in Saint-Mandé, France and raised in New York City, Colbert began her career in Broadway productions during the 1920s, progressing to film with the advent of talking pictures. She established a successful film career with Paramount Pictures and later, as a freelance performer, became one of the highest paid entertainers in American cinema. Colbert was recognized as one of the leading female exponents of screwball comedy, but was also known for her versatility; she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her comedic performance in It Happened One Night (1934), and also received Academy Award nominations for her dramatic roles in Private Worlds (1935) and Since You Went Away (1944). Her film career began to decline in the 1950s, and she made her last film in 1961. She continued to act extensively in theater and briefly television during her later years. After a career of more than 60 years, Colbert retired to her home in Barbados, where she died at the age of 92, following a series of strokes. --------------- Torch Singer (1933) is a lavishly-mounted soap opera with Claudette Colbert having a child out of wedlock, giving it up for adoption, then leaving that life behind as she becomes a scandalous nightclub chanteuse. Colberts keynote song was Give Me Liberty or Give Me Love by Leo Robin and Ralph Rainger. Torch Singer with Claudette Colbert - Give me Liberty Or Give ...

Sugar - Tribute to Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurray

Here's my rendition of one of my favourite Peggy Lee / Lee Wiley songs. I recorded this one-take a while ago, but I wasn't sure about it, so I just saved it and decided to listen to it later. Then I forgot all about it ... until today :-) So here you are, my feeble version of a great classic - with footage from various Colbert-MacMurray movies ... Claudette Colbert - Dancing in the Moonlight (15th anniversary tribute)

Claudette Colbert passed away 15 years ago today so this is my tribute to her. She is one of my absolute favorite actresses and I adore her acting and her movies and this video is a little bit different than others I've made before. This is like 2 videos in 1, I tried to separate some of Claudette's dramatic moments and some of her funniest moments as well so I used 2 songs for this, the first is "Moonlight" by Thriving Ivory and the second one is a very catchy song from the 1950s, it is called precisely "Claudette" by The Everly Brothers. Enjoy and may her legacy live forever! We love you, Claudette!!

Great It Happened One Night scene. Some trivia: Friz Frelen, developer of Bugs Bunny, based the rabbit partly on Clark Gable's mannerisms in this movie, in particular the way of eating a carrot and talking at a rather fast rate.

The Comedy Theater - The Palm Beach Story (Claudette Colbert & Robert Young)

The Old Gold Comedy Theater was an NBC anthology series that aired for the single 1944-1945 season. It was hosted by comedy star Harold Lloyd, of silent film fame, and featuring some of the biggest names from film and radio. The series was intended as a lighter version of The Lux Radio Theater, featuring half hour shows that were cut-down versions of successful comedy films from the time period. Despite Mr. Lloyd's best efforts, the presence of big-name movie and radio stars and the selection of successful films for scripting, the series did not last, perhaps due to the half-hour format. However, in today's time period they are quiet entertaining. Tonight's Comedy.... "The Palm Beach Story" Starring.....
