HEEYYYY!!!!!! The Most Money Making Man is back up once again. Claudio has been a mainstay in the states for the last five years or so, brought over by Chris Hero in 2004. Since then, Claudio's stock has risen astronomically. He is the only man to have won both of the Tag World Grand Prix tournaments, both with different partners. He and Chris Hero have held the Campeonatos de Parejas, as well as the CZW and ROH World Tag Team Titles simultaneously. As a singles competitor, Claudio has seen some success over the years, though not quite as successful as one half of the Kings of Wrestling. Not yet, anyway.

Composer and keyboard player Claudio Merlini was born in Milan, Italy in 1981. When he was just 10 years old, Claudio obtained his first electronic keyboard and from that moment, all he wanted to do was compose instrumental music. His passion for music lead him to prefer spending time composing rather than participating in other 'typical' childhood activities. This was hardly surprising though, because Claudio's father had a passion for new age music, so it was all around Claudio from an early age. Indeed, Claudio believes his father's interest in the genre helped develop his music style, so rich in harmonies and stylised musical arrangements. Claudio would soon be influenced by luminaries of the genre like Vangelis, Mike Oldfield and Jean Michel Jarre, as the cultural city of Milan itself experienced the birth of electronic and new age music. Over the years Claudio perfected his musical skills, clearly drawing on his influences, but retaining a clearly defined style of his own. Trumpeter Claudio Roditi has had a wonderful year. His last recording "Braziliance x 4" was nominated for a Grammy for best Latin Recording. Roditi's latest Resonance Records release "Simpatico" is a recording with all of his own compositions. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Claudio mastered the music of his native Brazil before taking an interest in jazz music. At an early age he began playing piano. It was his uncle that introduced him to the masters like Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, and Miles Davis. He was a finalist in the International Jazz Competition in Vienna before he was twenty. It was also the same time when he moved to Boston and attended Berklee School of Music where Claudio decided he was going to pursue music full-time. Upon completing school he became of the most requested session musicians backing the likes of Paquito D' Rivera, Herbie Mann, McCoy Tyner, and Tito Puente. Claudio has been able to mix both the music of Brazil and creating a more "hard bop" sound. Him taking the Brazillian musical components along with the more traditional jazz structure is what has allowed him to develop his signature sound. Plus, him playing in the Dizzy Gillespie's United Nations Orchestra and Slide Hampton's Jazz Masters has always opened Claudio's musical pallet to become a very learned and diverse jazz trumpeter.

Claudio's Barbershop an East Harlem landmark is being threatened by a landlord hoping to triple his rent in one year. If a settlement is not reached, Claudio will be evicted in place of a Chinese Food restaurant the landlord has threatened to build where his historic barbershop has sat for well over 50 years. Claudio is one of many residents suffering from displacement in East Harlem (El Barrio) and he is just one of many featured in a documentary I'm shooting on gentrification in El Barrio set for completion by summers end. In November of 2007, The Hull Freedom Trail delivered five 4×4 vehicles to aid agencies who work with the child victims of modern day slavery in Freetown Sierra Leone. It was an extraordinary journey which took the 24 Trailblazer team members 3 weeks and covered over 5000 miles including the Sahara Desert and Sub-Saharan Jungle. Claudio Von Planta, cameraman and documentary film maker, utilised a BGAN Explorer 300 supplied by AST, during the journey which enabled all personnel to keep in contact with home, and also for footage to be uploaded to the Hull Freedom Trail's website on a daily basis. One of the lead editors of Ewan McGregors and Charley Boorman's latest epic motorcycle trip, Julia Frater, is all set to start work editing the Hull Freedom Trails documentary which includes footage sent back to London via the BGAN terminal.
