These days it seems that President Obama replaced the old good press conference with his Twitter accounts, answering questions via the net. In fact, he is the first president to live tweet. He asked the public for their input in order to reduce the deficit, what costs they would like cut and what investments are worth to keep. Obama is is relying upon his Twitter the same week that Fox News reportedly had it's account hacked when they posted false tweets claiming that the president was done. Tech : Leap Motion fine tuning commerical MO-CAP for the masses. (video fromCNET.)

Tech : motion capture control has come leaps and bounds in recent years. Mainly of recent with the Microsoft Kinect. But next year is looking to fine tune our control, nearer and then beyond that of 'Minority Report' style tech (minority report used special gloves, Kinect and this don't). Check out this video from hardware & software developer 'Leap Motion', showcasing their current input device that can recognise individual fingers with ease in a 4 foot 3D space. Especially note the visuals (in the accompanied video) the device generates when showing its recognised input. Just wow. Apparently when released next year the hardware looks to be around the £70 mark. (I know it says $70, but with the UK tax / import it normally is around the same in direct currency switch around ;) .) co - CNET news.cnet.com © 2012 CBS Interactive. All rights reserved.

DHS to start patrolling the Internet?

On April 2, a former George W Bush special adviser for cyber security, Richard A. Clarke, published an op-ed in The New York Times. In the article he argued that the US Department of Homeland Security needs to find a way to monitor what goes in and out of America's online framework to prevent a cyber terror attack. Many argue this proposal will infringe on Americans right to privacy. Declan McCullagh, a correspondent for CNet News, joins us to look closer at the idea of DHS patrolling the net. Obama condemns monitoring abroad as Congress pushes CISPA

President Obama announced that he is planning on fighting genocide in the Middle East by cracking down on entities that use technology to conduct human rights violations. On Monday, Obama signed an executive order that targets individuals who use technology to monitor and track dissidents. Although President Obama opposes the monitoring of individuals abroad, Congress is attempting to pass a legislation that will allow the US government to do just that domestically. The Cyber Intelligence Sharing Protection Act (CISPA) could alter online freedoms in the US, and Declan McCullagh, CNet News correspondent, joins us for a closer look.
