30 DAY REVIEW: Verizon iPhone 4 Field Test

TheRecoveringBanker.com | Nic Coventry | The Recovering Banker -- The Verizon iPhone 4 has much in common with its AT&T counterpart, but varying features and different performance give it enough room to stand apart. It won't vastly change your iPhone experience, but we welcome the consumer choice that it brings. The Verizon iPhone 4 has much in common with its AT&T counterpart, but varying features and different performance give it enough room to stand apart. It won't vastly change your iPhone experience, but we welcome the consumer choice that it brings. Yes, it's finally here. After almost four years of endless gossip, analyst forecasts, and so-called leaks, the Verizon iPhone is a reality. We're thrilled, to be honest, mostly because we never have to write another rumor story again. And, of course, we're also happy to see US iPhone owners get a real choice in carriers. If you've been pining for this moment for ages, I feel your elation. But before you rush to the store, there are some important points to keep in mind. First off, the Verizon iPhone 4 is nearly identical to its AT&T counterpart. It stands apart in a couple of ways, but it's largely the same device with many of the same benefits and drawbacks. And like its predecessor, the Verizon iPhone 4 entails some serious give-and-take on the part of the user. You get that nifty hot spot, for example, but Big Red's CDMA technology takes away functionality as well. Performance may also defy some of your expectations ...

17. Mapping Consumer Theory to Producer Theory

In this video, I introduce the isocost-isoquant graph by relying on parallel concepts from indifference curves and budget constraints from consumer behavior. This graph is the basis for understanding how production technologies relate to cost curves. As such, a good foundational understanding of isocosts and isoquants is important in the study of producer behavior. 7b. The Labor-Leisure Problem

In this video, I present the basics of the labor-leisure problem in microeconomics. In particular, I work an example from my childhood when I learned the time value of money by being paid to do my chores. This video gives the basic framework for the labor-leisure problem. There are more complicated scenarios. If you have demand for seeing a more complicated scenario, leave a comment on this video. This video relates most closely to my consumer theory unit and the unit on endowment economies. You can view the labor-leisure budget constraint as a special case of an endowment economy. The individual is endowed with 24 hours of leisure and can trade that off. Hope this is helpful! Future of retailing - shops, chains, outlets, retail banks, clothing, fashion, shopping centres, malls and department stores. Conference keynote speaker

www.globalchange.com How retailers and shopping centres need to fight back against online sales sites which will almost always be able to beat them with huge discounts. Shopping centres and high street shops shopping malls can deliver retail product faster into your hands than online -- even with overnight delivery. Why in an increasingly fast-changing and impatient world the high street shop will always win for some consumers who need it NOW. And the other thing is providing living, breathing shopping experience. Customer behaviour and consumer choice. Online shopping and e-bay / online travel agents. Food shopping is likely to remain a go-out-shopping activity for a very long time because of immediacy and the fact that shoppers want to touch, feel and smell food before buying. Comment by Dr Patrick Dixon, futurist, leading authority on global trends and conference speaker.

11. The Giffen Good (When Demand Slopes Upward)

In this video, I use budget constraints and indifference curves to demonstrate the theoretical possibility of an upward-sloping demand curve. A good with an upward-sloping demand curve is called a Giffen good. After demonstrating the possibility, I analyze the income and substitution effects for a Giffen good to demonstrate why Giffen good "cannot" be found in real-world situations.

Will Net Neutrality Save the Internet?

Advocates say that "Net Neutrality" will "save the Internet." But does the Internet need saving? Net Neutrality is a proposed set of regulatory powers that would grant the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) the ability to control how Internet service providers (ISPs) package their services. Proponents argue that such rules are necessary to ensure that ISPs treat all data on the Internet equally and don't slow or even restrict access to various websites and other parts of the Internet. However well-intentioned, the practical effect will be to limit consumer choice and grant the federal government unprecedented power over the Internet, all in the name of fixing a problem that doesn't exist in any meaningful way (reason.com Indeed, examples of the behavior that Net Neutrality will combat are few and far between. Alternative Medicine and Pseudoscience with Scott Gavura

Toronto. May 28, 2010. Despite the dramatic improvements in the extent and quality of our lives, largely owing to modern medicine, our current health care system has fostered a backlash, manifested in part by the emergence of non-science-based "alternative" health care practices . This trend has driven a need for dialogue on how best we should balance evidence-based decisions against demands for consumer choice - regardless of the science. In this presentation, Scott Gavura discusses how health care decision-making differs from all other goods and services, and how this impacts on the choices we make, both as individuals, and in aggregate. Through an interactive discussion, he facilitates a dialogue on the opportunities for science advocates to effect positive change in health at the patient- and population-level. Scott Gavura , BScPhm, MBA is passionate about improving the use of medications. As a pharmacist working in the Ontario cancer system, he scrutinizes and manages how very expensive cancer drugs are used. He also founded the Science-Based Pharmacy blog, to begin a discussion within and about the pharmacy profession's role in supporting science-based care. Scott has a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Toronto, and has completed a Accredited Canadian Hospital Pharmacy. Row over Abortion Ad Erupts LIVE on RT

A TV advert offering advice on abortion is due to be aired in Britain for the first time on Monday. The Marie Stopes Sexual Health Organization hopes the ad will encourage women to speak more openly about their choices. Pro-life groups are outraged, saying it will trivialize life and present the procedure as yet another consumer choice, leading to mass abortion on demand.

Political Marketing

During the past years branding has emerged more and more, even in organizations where you wouldn't expect it at first. Organizations such as the Roman Catholic Church, London Metropolitan Police and Universities. Actually, 'branding principles have been applied in virtually every setting where consumer choice of some kind is involved, for example with physical goods, services, retail stores, people, organisations, places or ideas' (according to KL Keller and his article 'Branding and Brand Equity' 2002). So of course we have our party as an organization, our politicians as people and together they convey ideas. But, what is the definition of a brand and does that fit a political party? Can we apply product-marketing strategies to political parties? And which lessons could politicians learn from their fellow businessman? This Vodcast put emphasis on the views portrayed by Aron O'Cass, Gareth Smith and Alan French along the view of Jip Samhoud, Prime-minister of the Dutch Youth Cabinet and entrepreneur through &samhoud media.
