On the final climb of the day, the Col de Manse, Contador attacked to gain a few seconds on Voeckler, Andy and Frank Schleck and Evans. Andy Schleck was able to follow Contador after the first attack, but when Contador accelerated once again only Evans and Sanchez were able to go with him. While Andy Schleck lost contact with the other dropped riders on the descent and ended up loosing over a minute on Contador, Thor Hushvod who was part of the todays breakaway took the stage and got his second victory on this years Tour De France. www.euronews.net Spanish cyclist Alberto Contador has been given a two-year ban for failing a doping test during the 2010 Tour de France, ruling him out of this year's competition and the Olympic Games. The Court of Arbitration for Sport rejected his appeal that he ate a contaminated steak after he tested positive for the banned anabolic agent clenbuterol. A three-time winner of cycling's biggest race, his future in the sport is now in doubt. Contador had threatened to quit if found guilty and now looks set to be stripped of his last title.

El pinteño describe su sufrimiento con frases tan duras como: "me están acusando de una cosa que va en contra de los valores que me han inculcado", o "he hecho el polígrafo cómo un auténtico delincuente". "Voy seguir en el ciclismo plenamente. Voy a seguir practicándolo de forma limpia, como lo he hecho toda mi vida. Aunque ahora mi estado de animo no es el mejor, sé que esto me va a hacer muy fuerte en el futuro", dijo. "Estoy totalmente en desacuerdo con la resolución" del Tribunal de Arbitraje Deportivo (TAS), afirmó Contador, que dejó abierta la posibilidad de recurrir al señalar que sus abogados están analizando todas las posibilidades y que llegará "hasta el final". "Ha sido un año y medio durísimo que no se lo deseó absolutamente a nadie. Un auténtico calvario, que ha sido más duro si cabe por el sufrimiento que ha padecido mi familia", añadió. According to French daily Le Monde, he refused then to undergo a DNA test that would have judged whether or not he had any link to the blood bags that were found in the investigation. There has been some skepticism of Contador's claim that contaminated meat was to blame. In 2008 and 2009, only one animal sample came back positive for clenbuterol out of 83203 animal samples tested by EU member nations.
