MEET DERRICK SCHRADER Derrick John Schrader has been part of the dance industry for over 18 years. His ability to fuse all genres of dance along with storytelling has made him one of the most sought after choreographers in the industry. At age 7, Derrick knew he wanted to be a dancer after seeing his cousinís dance recital. There was a boy performing the notorious coffee grinders during a rendition of ì Grease Lightening ìÖseeing the reaction of the crowd, Derrick knew this is what he wanted to do. Derrick began training in Minnesota, dancing and performing for studios and companies throughout the state. OOAL Ballet Company, Burning the Floor, Set You Free, and Tappiní In the Twin Cities ( directed by Savion Glover and Gregory Hines ) are a few on the list. Now residing in Los Angeles, Derrick is signed to one of the top dance and choreography agents in the world. He has performed for numerous music videos, television shows, films, dance companies, and movies. Currently he is busy traveling with Tremaine Dance Conventions and loving every moment of it. When not on the road, heís busy teaching and choreographing for studios around the world. Derrick is also teaching at the new dance facility IDA of Hollywood, home of Americaís Next Best Dance Crew and American Idol. MEET TASHA HAMILTON Relocating to LA from Denver 2 years ago, Tasha Hamilton, has not only been a working dancer, but also one of the youngest and most sought after choreographers and teachers, already with 13 years of teaching experience. Growing up dancing in a talented family, including her well-known mother, Irina Brecher, and brother, Misha Gabriel, Tasha became a well-rounded professional dancer, with 16 years of training in ballet, pointe, lyrical, jazz, contemporary and hip hop, receiving multiple awards and scholarships. Tasha's choreography credits include the UCLA Benefit Show, Saugus High School Dance Team, and over 50 award winning competition pieces. Represented by Bloc Agency, Tasha most recently appeared in the feature film, Dance Flick, a PBS national commercial, and a Josh Vietti music video. MEET TESSANDRA CHAVEZ Tessandra Chavez, born and raised in San Diego, CA, began dancing at the age of 5, studying Tap, Jazz and Ballet. She immediately fell in love with dance and decided to pursue it faithfully. She was so inspired to dance, she later added Modern and Hip Hop into her training. At age 11, she discovered her passion for choreography and persistently sought out opportunities to display her work. This intense passion became routine and continued into high school where Ms. Chavez started her elite dance company called Unity Dance Ensemble. Tessandra was only 15 years old when she established Unity and was determined to create a dance empire that would inspire all dancers of this generation and last a lifetime. During high school, at age 16, she was hired to choreograph the half time shows for the UC Riverside Cheerleaders. In 1996, Tessandra graduated high school from the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts and attended California State University Long Beach. Since Unity's establishment in 1994, Unity has performed locally to sold out audiences and performed nationally as guest artists.
