Hi everyone and welcome to Clevver Games I'm Andrea Rene and early this morning rumors were swirling about a possible new Counter-Strike game. Now Valve has come forward and confirmed that yes indeed there is a new game, and it will be called Global Offensive. The game will be released on the Playstation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and of course on Steam for PC and Mac in early 2012. Global offensive will expand on the team-based action that is synonymous with Counter-Strike. . There will be new maps, weapons, and characters but there will also be updated versions of old school Counter-Strike content like the Dust map. You'll get to try the new content out with new gameplay modes along with matchmaking and of course, leaderboards. . The franchise has sold over 25 million units worldwide and is still one of the most-played games around the globe. Valve is heading up development but will be assisted by Hidden Path based in Seattle. In fact, if you are heading to Seattle and attending PAX Prime in just a few weeks you'll get a chance to play the game! It will also appear at the London Games Festival. . Bad news Counter Strike fans, Valve has announced they will be delaying the beta for new installment Global Offensive. After letting professional Counter-Strike 1.6 players get their hands on it, Valve agrees, the game isn't ready yet. . Valve's Chet Faliszek said, "They gave us a lot of feedback on things we should get in the game before we release it, otherwise we're going to be getting a lot of bug reports or a lot of feedback and it would be just redundant." . The beta was originally planned for October, but does not have another date scheduled yet. Once it does go live around 10000 people will be invited to participate. Chet said, "The biggest thing of those first 10000 is we have to look at percentage of crashes. You can argue with us on bullet-spray patterns and all kinds of things, but crashes? There's really no argument for that." . He also said Global Offensive will be the same game on all three platforms, PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. There will be 16 maps at launch including eight classic maps and eight Gun Game maps. There will be new modes inspired by modern shooters, like deathmatch and zombie modes which will be added post launch. . The next installment in the Counter-Strike series will be getting new games modes Valve has announced today. . The new Arsenal mode is based on the popular Counter-Strike: Source mod Gun Game. If you never played Source you might be more familiar with the Counter-Strike inspired Gun Game in Call of Duty which is almost identical. The new modes Arsenal: Arms Race and Arsenal: Demolition add eight new maps to the game and expand on classic gameplay. . Valve is working directly with the creators of the original Gun Game to develop Arsenal Mode so keep expectations high. Counter-Strike is still one of the most played shooters in the world and can routinely be seen at professional gaming competitions. The new iteration, Counter-Strike Global Offensive, will be launching in early 2012 on Valve's on Steam and will also be available for download on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. .
