Alien Planet is a special on Discovery Channel about two internationally built robot probes investigating alien life forms on the fictional planet "Darwin IV". As usual, I put here my favorites creatures of this strange and weird (for us) world. An interstellar spacecraft named "Von Braun", leaves Earth's orbit, and travels at 20% the speed of light for reaches Darwin IV in 42 years. Upon reaching orbit, it deploys the "Darwin Reconnaissance Orbiter", which looks for potential landing sites for the probes. Two probes, Leonardo da Vinci (nicknamed 'Leo') and Isaac Newton (nicknamed 'Ike'), successfully land on the planet, and learn much about its bizarre natives lifeforms. - Creatures shown in the video - Arrowtongue - The 2,5 m high creature uses a sonar system to terrify prey. Is called this way due to a retractable appendage on its mouth that can attack prey, piercing the victim and injecting digestive juices into it. The insides of the prey are then turned to liquid, which it uses its 8 m long appendage to suck out as food. Daggerwrist - Daggerwrists are 1,8m long aggressive, gliding aliens which live in the pocket forests of Darwin IV. It is built in a manner that is similar to a leopard, but is faster and can glide. It preys on Trunk Suckers, mainly to consume the sap they have digested first. The Daggerwrist has two big claws, which are used as weapons and for climbing. They sink so deep into trees that the sap bleeds to the surface, which in turn attract the trunk <b>...</b>

STORY A fleet of three Antarctic marine research ships returned to Australia this week ending a summer expedition to the Southern Ocean where they carried out a census of life in the icy ocean and on its floor more than one kilometer below the surface. [Martin Riddle, Marine Scientist Doctor]: "A huge diversity of life, very colorful, very rich, far exceeding any of our expectations." The three ships, the Aurora Australia, France's L'Astrolabe and Japan's Umitaka Maru all docked in Hobart on Australia's southern island state of Tasmania. Their decks are full of an array of sea life including unknown species of sea creatures collected near the eastern Antarctic land mass. [Martin Riddle, Marine Scientist Doctor]: "There are forces happening in the world, in the atmosphere and in the ocean that are going to change even this the Antarctic and the southern ocean, so it is really important now to have baseline so that we know what we have got now, so that we can identify whether it is changing and put in place measures to protect it before it is lost." Creatures is an artificial life simulation designed by Stephen Grand and done by Cyberlife Technology in 1996. It was originally released for Microsoft Windows 3.x and Windows 95 and later ported to the Apple Macintosh, the Sony PlayStation and the Nintendo Game Boy Advance. You start with a bunch of eggs to hatch and care for your Norns. The original Windows version came with a floppy disk on which six Norn eggs were saved that could be transported into the game. However, they were permanently erased from the disk after that, so you really had to be careful. In this video, you can see the game trailer that explains the basics of this game.
