Honbank
Auf der Honbank werden durch die drehend durchgeführte Auf- und Abbewegung des Werkzeuges Zylinderformabweichungen von unter 10 μm korrigiert. Dies wird als Honen bezeichnet. Dieser Arbeitsschritt erzielt zudem eine bestimmte homogene Oberflächenrauigkeit welche Einfluss auf die Reibung zwischen Kolben und Zylinderinnenwand hat. Eine geringe Reibung hat wiederum positive Einflüsse auf die Partikelemission, den Ölverbrauch sowie den Kolbenringverschleiß. Dieser Arbeitsschritt ist notwendig, wenn die Honung durch Vergrößerung des Zylinderinnendurchmessers entfernt wurde.
