Cyalume ChemLight Tactical Lights Glow Sticks (Military Grade)
My Son and I trying out the Cyalume ChemLights, White 8 hour Light stick, Red 12 hour light stick test. They are pretty bright even in the daylight. We took in a dark room and we were able to see each other fairly well with both sticks. I would recommend having some of these lights on standby just in case. They are very useful for emergencys or to take camping with you. You can tie one around your kids belt loop and leave it hanging from his/her waist and it will aid in seeing there location at base camp!!

I had some cardboard tubes lying around, (the kind that come with confetti in them) and I decided to have some fun. I put a small explosive in the base of the tube, taped it in place, and buried that end. Then I just dropped a bundle of cyalumes on top and set it off! the first one blew through the tape and didn't work very well. I reinforced the second one and it worked much better. The glowsticks are a little hard to see, but I estimate that they reached roughly 50'. Enjoy!

This is a 8-hour time-lapse sequence comparing the brightness of the Military and Industrial versions of the Cyalume chem luminescence lights. You can see that the brightness decays very rapidly over the first 10 minutes but quickly settles down and changed very little over the next 7 hours. The temperature for this test was 60F.
