Riding the 2009 Challenge du Dauphine event in the Vercors mountains, near Grenoble. Organised by the Dauphine Libere, the 173 kilometre route includes 3200 metres of vertical climb and a route that includes beautiful countryside, cliff roads and the tough Col de la Machine from St-Jean-en-Royans.

Climb starts in Treherbert, the summit is reached at the lay-by, where feedstation 1 is located on the 2010 event. Climb statistics: lenght 3.9miles / 6.73m, 1000ft / 307m ascent, average of 4.5%, maximum 6.7%.
The first big climb on the Dragon Ride Cyclosportive event in South Wales, UK. Climb starts from the clock tower in Nantymoel, the first few hundred metres is the steepest at 14%. The remainder of the climb averages 6-7%. Total lenght of climb to summit (at T junction), 3.1 Miles / 4.7km.

The 1066 cyclosportive is a cyclosportive event run by SRS Events. There are four routes to choose from on this Cyclosportive with the longest event being 103 miles long. A beautiful route which starts in Burgess Hill takes riders through the Ashdown forest and the lower parts of the Weald and in this case 1066 country as it is know locally. Riders have a few testing climbs to climb most notably Cob Lane which is close to the end of the ride and although short at 20% it is a real test for the riders to get up with out dismounting and walking. www.srs-events.cc

This is a video shot from the handlebar of my bicycle as I rode in the cyclosportive held the day before the Tour of Flanders, also know as De Ronde van Vlaanderen , on the Easter weekend in 2007. I used an ATC-2000 "Action Camera" from Oregon Scientific, which worked pretty well for all but the roughest pave. It cut out a few times, I suspect because the memory card was bounced off the metal contacts. Unfortunately, this included the most famous cobbled climb, the Muur-Kapelmuur in Geraardsbergen. Several famous hills are featured, including the Oude-Kwaremont and Bosberg. Also included is a brief ride alongside some of the Euskatel-Euskadi squad, out practising for the race the next day, before they dropped me like a stone on the 17% gradient of Wolvenberg.
