Tribute to John Deacon
My own tribute to John Deacon from Queen. He is the good and the best bass player and he was the 'silent' member of the band. Queen - One Year of Love His years active with Queen: 1971 - 1997 (retired) John Deacon's last involvement with the band was in 1997, when the band recorded the track "No-One but You (Only the Good Die Young)". It was the last original song recorded by all three remaining members of Queen, and it was released as a bonus track on the Queen Rocks compilation album later that year. The death of Queen's lead singer Freddie Mercury affected Deacon deeply, and after playing live with Queen one last time at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS Awareness, he made the decision to retire from music. "One Year of Love" is a song by John Deacon. The album version features Deacon playing Yamaha DX-7 synth, a string orchestra conducted by Lynton Naif and a saxophone played by Steve Gregory. The song doesn't feature May. Deacon decided to substitute the guitar components with a saxophone solo after a discussion with May. It was released as a single in France and Spain only, and appeared during the bar scene in Highlander.
