Dr. Brigid Tenenbaum, a genetic scientist, discovered that sea slugs secreted a substance that behaved like stem cells, and with it, she could manipulate DNA. Funded by smuggler Frank Fontaine, Dr. Tenenbaum was able to cure diseases and grant organisms powers they called this ADAM. Soon after, she made another breakthrough: if the slug was implanted into a host, it would produce nearly 30 times the amount of ADAM. Only one test subject seemed to yield results - young girls.
