Lowe's home improvement expert, Mike Kraft, demonstrates how to properly layout your new fencing and how to dig post holes. First, make some batterboards to support the fencing layout strings. Then, drive the batterboard into the ground to start the fence layout, usually at the corner of a house or hardscape feature. Use mason's string to mark the line where the fence posts will be set. Apparently this video has caused a lot of contraversy, so here is my side of the story. I will be the first to point out the couple things that are wrong in this video. First of all, my swamper doesn`t have his hard hat on. Well, that day was 35 degrees and if you notice, he has just taken it off and laid it next to the hole. He put his hard hat back on as soon as he got out of the hole. Second, I am operating while he is in the hole. Yes that is not necessairly safe, but as I carefully excavate some remaining dirt around the gas pipe, I need his guidance to make sure I don`t put the bucket too close, and you can clearly see my swamper give such directions. I am not swinging the bucket over his head! I clearly pull the bucket away from the hole before I swing the load to the stock pile. And last of all, ignore the camera man comentator. He is only trying to be funny! I am not from Texas and I am not an Alcoholic! Other than that, there is nothing going on wrong in this video, and I don`t know what all the fuss is about.
