How to make an Origami Great Stellated Dodecahedron

Watching Mark Rowe I thought why not have a go at this Great Stellated Dodecahedron ... from "Tornillo" units and while I am at it why not make a "how to" vid about it? Here is the result ... Thanks a lot Mark!!! Your GSDB on UT (Great Stellated Dodecahedron Bombardment) inspired me!! For Paolo Bascetta's diagram check out (Habla español? How to make a SSMaRT Dodecahedron with illusory sphere

More Daniel Kwan stuff: www.flickr.com What clown came up with that name Quadra-hadra-pudra-phedron -.- ?? As this model comes close to a Medial Rhombic Triacontahedron as well as a Small Stellated Dodecahedron I took the liberty to rename it to SMaRT Dodecahedron or Small Stellated Medial Rhombic Triacontadodecahedron ;) with "illusory sphere". At first glance it appears to bear some resemblance to the 5 intersecting tetrahedra (of course that one has 20 vertices vs 12 vertices in this one) but this SSD is much easier to construct ... apart from tiny little UFO issue... Special thanks (once more) to: RaDjehuty!! ;) Diagram (Daniel Kwan): www.flickr.com Music by: pacdv.com

How to make Enrica's Dodecahedron Kusudama

Have a go at this dodecahedron "flower-ish" kusudama model by Enrica Dray. You can do a lot of different things with the modules both in appearance as well as locking them together. Making it without glue was a hassle since I was not able to fully lock the last module. Not that it matters since it is still strong enough to use it as football :-D As you can see when you click the diagram link below, mine looks more flowers-ish than the original shown there. Simply by adding a bit of curl to the modules... ;-) Diagram digilander.libero.it Music by www.pacdv.com/sounds/

Dan Winter * Dodecahedral Grids * Fractality * Gravity & LifeForce * Platonic Solids * 1

~*~ goldenmean.info ~*~ Gravity, Implosion, and Self-Awareness (Potentially infinite wave multiple-connectedness by CONSTRUCTIVE COMPRESSION) = Charge Acceleration thru C by FRACTALITY! Implosion is that which provides the centering force necessary to stabilize the wave rotation called 'mass'. By defining mass only as the resistance to change of position / interia - for wave packets in rotation - it became obvious that a symmetry law was required to describe what causes wave to resist change of position. Einstein called this problem he never solved: the geometric model of infinite non-destructive compression. Which is now obviously the stellated dodeca-icosa. The answer - pulling the plug to allow charge an exit path thru the speed of law by recursive heterodyning: Charge Implosion - also answers the other question which til now stumped physicists: Why does an object fall to the ground? The Proof: Capacitive Charge in PHI based self-similarity creates gravity!

Neocube - Very Hexy Dodecahedron Frame

A dodecahedron frame built from 5mm neodymium ball magnets. (A dodecahedron is a 3D geometric form with 12 regular pentagonal faces, 30 edges and 20 vertices). This is not a difficult shape to build, it doesn't take much courage to tackle, but it does take a lot of balls. This shape is made entirely from hexagon elements of 18 balls each, a total of 220 hexagons, which is 3960 neodymium ball magnets, (1800 golden and 2160 nickel plated in my design). The joints only just support it's weight at this size, but it can still be lifted and rotated carefully. Music is the Nocturne No.2 in E flat by Chopin.

Beau Ball - Dodecahedron construction using Zen Magnets

I have christened this shape the Beau Ball (2400 Zen Magnets) in honor of my beloved Boxer, Beau, who passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011. This is really a dodecahedron construction. I used a triangular subunit (three 9-ball circles in an offset stack). This is the same subunit used in the construction of wheels. I put five of the triangular subunits together to form a pentagonal star. I make twelve of the pentagonal stars to make the majority of the Beau Ball. There are holes between the pentagonal stars. I use the same triangular subunit to fill in those holes. I use a 2-layer pentagon to fill in the hole in the center of the pentagonal stars. Variation of the Beau Ball. Same subunits, but inverted pentagonal star: www.youtube.com Flickr photos of this polyhedron: www.flickr.com

Zen Magnets/Neoballs: Dodecahedron with Tetra Subunits Tutorial

This construction requires 3080 balls, if you include all the bridges. Four 19-ball hexagons = 76 balls. Add four 12-ball 2x3 tri-hexagons = 48 balls. That comes to 124 balls per tetra subunit. Twenty tetra subunits = 20 x 124 = 2480. Add an extra 2x3 tri-hexagon per vertex = 20 x 12 = 240. Dodecahedron without bridging is 2480 + 240 = 2720. Add thirty edges with 12 balls = 360. Full figure with bridging is 2720 + 360 = 3080.

Pentakis Dodecahedron Balloon

A tricky balloon to make that is probably a good balloon to practice your consistency skills and to hone your 3D skills--but not one to hand out / busk with. This design is based on a regular dodecahedron (12 pentagons) with all of the pentagons subdivided into 5 triangles. The shape is called a pentakis dodecahedron. A point of trivia: this is the shape that the Epcot center is based on.

You can use this formula for hexagons, pentagons, etc. f(n, k) = k • n • (n+1)/2 Where n must be greater than 1 and k must be greater than 2. (+1 for the center dot) k = # of sides to polygon n = number of wraps or layers
