facebook.com After 2 years of growing out my hair, I finally had the 10 inches needed to donate to Locks of Love! I had just turned 30 years old and was 18.5 weeks pregnant with twins, so I figured I'd add one more drastic change to my life. It felt great to cut my hair and even better knowing that somone who really needed it was going to get it instead. I chose to do Locks of Love because I color my hair with an all-over color (see my how-to video on doing your own hair dye!). I don't highlight my hair, so it is acceptable as a donation to Locks of Love. Many might ask why I didn't just pull all of my hair in a ponytail and cut it all at once like you see on TV or other YouTube videos. We cut it the way we did so that we could get the most hair that Locks of Love would accept (they don't accept shorter than 10 inches) while also leaving me with as much of my hair to work with for a new 'do. If we had pulled it all back in a ponytail, I would have lost a ton of my hair that would also have been too short to donate. So, that's why! Hope you enjoy the video. Athena (brindle) and Gage's story has been an inspirational one. It begins in february when they were abandoned at a pound in Eugene by their owner. All the volunteers at the pound realized what WONDERFUL dogs they were. They are sweet, lovable, and exceptionally great with people. Unfortunately they eventually got on the Red Alert list and got a deadline by which they needed to be rescued by- March 7th. Love A Pit and NW Red Alert Rescue and a couple other people started networking them and fundraising in hopes to be able to afford to take them to a boarding facility. Their efforts resulted in the dogs getting in two different newszines, and the video of the dogs got a whopping 1000 views in just several days. Everyone could see how wonderful the dogs were so there was an outpouring of care, and donations were raised. Athena and Gage are now at a boarding facility in Eugene and are safe. Donations only last so long and it costs $600 per month for their stay so we really need to find them either an adopter or foster home. Athena and Gage really love each other and get along so well. They are housetrained and we have heard that they may get along with other dogs. They are both a pit bull. They can not go to a home with cats. Potential fosters or adopters will be screened, there will be a home check, adoption fee, and precautions will be taken to ensure they do not go into the wrong hands.
