Dracula (1931) Trailer

Dracula (1931) For More Info On Dracula, please read: robojapan.blogspot.com In 1927 a theatrical adaptation of Dracula written by Hamilton Deane and John L., Balderston became a huge hit on Broadway. This play would star the Hungarian born actor Bela Lugosi who didnt speak a word of English. Lugosi learned all his lines phonetically, which produced the famous speech pattern that Dracula (and most vampires) would become associated with. Bela Lugosi (Bela Ferenc Dezso Blasco) came to America in the 1920s to pursue an acting career. Even though the actor had starred in several small roles prior, he would always be remembered for portraying Dracula, both on stage and in numerous films. After Dracula became a huge hit the actor was offered the part of The Monster in Frankenstein, which he turned down. Boris Karloff would become famous for the part, and Lugosis short term as the King of Horror would end as quickly as it started. Lugosi would go on to play Dracula and other various vampires throughout his career. The actor managed to beat a drug addiction, but ended his career in low budget features such as the infamous Plan 9 From Outer Space which would be his last film. He passed away while it was still in production. Despite all of his stage and film roles the actor died in poverty. Carl Laemmle Jr. had a vision for a big screen adaptation of Dracula for Universal that would have been in the same league as The Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Phantom of the Opera. Dracula: The True Story (Full Program)

www.janson.com The world's most famous vampire has been "undead" for over a century. The famous novel Dracula, written by Irish author Bram Stoker, was a mixture of reality, superstition, fearful fantasies and history. Stoker's role model for the novel was an actual Romanian Prince born in the 15th century: Vlad Tepes or "Vlad the Impaler," so named because of his favorite method of executing his enemies - the horrific medieval torture known as "impaling." And so "Vlad the Impaler" and the Transylvania vampire Count Dracula, became forevermore, one and the same. The image of the vampire has been seen in novels, films, plays, paintings, and even a new musical, Dance of Vampires, directed by Roman Polanski. This captivating new documentary travels to the heart of Transsylvania, in today's Romania, to uncover the historical truths behind the legend of Dracula. Today, vampire tourism in Romania is booming. A self-described vampire hunter, Paul Daian, believes that vampires lurk in the streets of today's Bucharest and can adopt various forms. A Viennese dermatologist, Christian Honigsmann, discusses his theory that porphyria, a widespread genetic illness in Transsylvania in those days, was behind many vampire superstitions, especially the idea of their fear of sunlight. And Princess Brianna Caradja, a descendant of Vlad Tepes' talks about her famous ancestor.

Dracula: Dead and Loving It (Trailer 1995)

Another spoof from the mind of Mel Brooks. This time he's out to poke fun at the Dracula myth. Basically, he took "Bram Stoker's Dracula," gave it a new cast and a new script and made a big joke out of it. The usual, rich English are attacked by Dracula (Leslie Nielsen) and Dr. Van Helsing (Mel Brooks) is brought in to save the day.

Iced Earth - Dracula

Horror Show is an album by the American heavy metal band Iced Earth, released June 26, 2001. It is a theme album based on classic monsters and horror-movie icons, including Dracula, Frankenstein, and the ghost from Phantom of the Opera. It was the first Iced Earth album to feature drummer Richard Christy, and the only album to feature Steve DiGiorgio on bass, though he didn't tour with the band. Horror Show is usually considered Iced Earth's only straightforward power metal release, as little of the thrash metal influence from the band's earlier works is present. There was a special limited-edition 2CD set. The second CD featured the instrumental track "Transylvania" (an Iron Maiden cover) along with an interview with bandleader/rhythm guitarist Jon Schaffer. There is also a single-disc version with "Transylvania", but without the interview. Jon Schaffer - Rhythm, Lead, Acoustic Guitars, Vocals, Mandolin, Keys Matt Barlow - Lead Vocals Larry Tarnowski - Guitar solos in all songs except "Ghost of Freedom" Richard Christy - Drums Steve DiGiorgio - Bass (Credited as 'Guest Musician') Yunhui Percifield - Lead Vocal in "The Phantom Opera Ghost" as "Christine", Backing Vocals Richie Wilkison - Backing Vocals Rafaela Farias - Backing Vocals Sam King - Backing Vocals Jim Morris - Backing Vocals, Keys, Guitar Solo in "Ghost of Freedom" Howard Helm - Keys (Pipe Organ) on "The Phantom Opera Ghost" Lyrics: www.darklyrics.com

Blood for Dracula

An obsure horror/comedy released in 1974, 'Blood for Dracula' is a film directed by Paul Morrissey and produced by Andy Warhol and Andrew Braunsberg starring Udo Kier, a German actor, known primarily for his work in horror and exploitation movies. A sickly and dying Count Dracula (Kier), who must drink virgin blood to survive, travels from Transylvania to Italy, thinking he will be more likely to find a virgin in a Catholic country. Blood for Dracula was initially released to theaters in a 103-minute version that was given an X rating by the MPAA due to its violent and sexual elements; it was later cut to 94 minutes and reclassified with an R rating for re-release. The original uncut version has been released to DVD several times, though it is now unrated.
