This is a film I made after some adventures underground with Steve Duncan (undercity.org) last summer. We also have a teaser video which you can watch on my vimeo page (vimeo.com/​5752275). Steve and I just completed another underground expedition with Norwegian explorer Erling Kagge (en.wikipedia.org/​wiki/​Erling_Kagge). It was featured in a three page article on the front page of the NY Times metro section and was written by Alan Feuer (nytimes.com/​2011/​01/​02/​nyregion/​02underground.html). We were also covered by NPR's Jacki Lyden who's report will be aired on 1/2/11 and posted on NPR's site. Shot on a canon 5d mkii with canon 24 f/1.4 (version 1) with the zacuto rapid fire, Zoom H4N and a sennheiser g2 wireless lav. Timothy "Tim" Theodore Duncan (born April 25, 1976 in Christiansted, St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands) is an American professional basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The 6'11" (2.11 m), 260-pound (118 kg) power forward/center is a four-time NBA champion, a three-time NBA Finals Most Valuable Player, and the current captain of the Spurs. He has also won the NBA Most Valuable Player Award twice, and has been voted into ten All-Star games, ten All-NBA teams, and ten All-Defensive teams. Duncan started out as a swimmer and only began playing basketball in ninth grade, and had difficulties adapting. He also picked up the guitar, and was encouraged to perform professionally while studying at college. He founded the Sweet Comfort Band in 1972, along with drummer Rick Thomson and bassist Kevin Thomson. In 1976, Rick Thomas joined the trio and the group went on to become a powerhouse leader in the Christian Rock community over their decade-long existence. This is the first chapter of my comparison between active EMGs and passive Seymour Duncans. I'm using these guitars . ESP M-II (Japan) with active EMG 81 pickups (bridge and neck). . Jackson King V KV2 (USA) with passive JB TB-4 (bridge) and JB SH-4 (neck) Seymour Duncan pickups. To make sure we have an accurate comparison, my Jackson King V and ESP M-II have similar specs and setup: 1. Both have alder body and maple neck. 2. Both have the original Floyd Rose made by Schaller. 3. Both are equipped with Ernie Ball strings. 4. I'm playing both with a Line 6 Spider amp using the "Insane" distortion and clean mode. No noise gate or pedals. In this first chapter, I compare the sound of the bridge pickups playing rhythms, riffs, solos and clean parts.
