Hì ho, hó ro éileadh o Hiùrabh o ró hiùrabh o ró hì Fàil ill ó o, hìreadh éileadh o Hoireann ó bu ho ró bho chiùrabh i My life is work, then I sleep But by my heart I always keep A picture of my boy, so young and fine; Back alone in this room I chase away the gloom By listening to his voice upon a line; Oh, his laughter to my ears Is the sweetest music you could hear My heart drinks in his stories as they come And when we say goodbye In this stillness here I lie, And tell myself this trip is my last one. Hì ho, hó ro éileadh o Hiùrabh o ró hiùrabh o ró hì Fàil ill ó o, hìreadh éileadh o Hoireann ó bu ho ró bho chiùrabh i Distance is a thief And thousands feel this grief This new world robs us all of things so true; We learn to yearn for stuff Feel we can never get enough And constantly toss old away for new; But the old ones knew the score Learned from those who came before What most in life could help a soul to mend; Oh my home and kin, you see, Are everything to me And soon I will be coming ...
