The Last Time I Saw Paris: Elizabeth Taylor, Van Johnson, Donna Reed, Eva Gabor (1954 Movie)

thefilmarchive.org DVD: www.amazon.com The Last Time I Saw Paris is a 1954 romantic drama made by MGM.[1][2] It is loosely based on F. Scott Fitzgerald 's short story "Babylon Revisited." It was directed by Richard Brooks, produced by Jack Cummings and filmed on locations in Paris and the MGM backlot. The screenplay was by Julius J. Epstein, Philip G. Epstein and Richard Brooks. The film starred Elizabeth Taylor and Van Johnson in his last role for MGM, with Walter Pidgeon, Donna Reed, Eva Gabor, Kurt Kasznar, George Dolenz, Sandy Descher and Roger Moore in his Hollywood debut. The film's title song, by composer Jerome Kern and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II, was already a classic when the movie was made and inspired the movie's title. Though the song had already won an Oscar after its film debut in 1941's Lady Be Good, it is featured much more prominently in "The Last Time I Saw Paris." It can be heard in many scenes, either being sung by Odette Myrtil or being played as an instrumental. The film is in the public domain. As World War II ends in Europe, Stars and Stripes journalist Charles Wills (Van Johnson) is on the streets of Paris, covering the celebrations. He is suddenly grabbed by a beautiful woman, who kisses him and disappears. Charles follows the crowd to Café Dhingo and meets another pretty woman named Marion Elliswirth (Donna Reed). The mutual attraction is instant and she invites him to join her father's celebration of the end of the war in Europe. Charles ...

Elizabeth Taylor Tribute

Here is a wonderful rendition of this famous song by Sammy Davis, Jr., chosen to illustrate the beauty of the divine Elizabeth Taylor. Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor (born in 1932 in Hampstead, London, England - she was born a US citizen but relinquished her American citizenship after marrying Richard Burton, and became a British subject) is an iconic two-time Academy Award-winning English-American actress. Her trademark is her violet eyes framed by a double row of eyelashes. Known for her acting skills and the depth of her personality along with her beauty, she is considered one of the great actresses of Hollywood's golden years, as well as a larger-than-life celebrity. The American Film Institute named Taylor among the Greatest Female Stars of All Time. In 1999, she was created a Dame Commander of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II. Elizabeth Taylor's hand and foot prints are immortalized in the forecourt of Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood and she has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Hollywood, California. On November 10, 2005, Taylor received the Britannia Award for Artistic Excellence in International Entertainment. She passed in March of 2011. Enjoy Elizabeth's beauty and let yourself immerse into her eyes!

Elizabeth Taylor - Cleopatra - by Richard Bassett

Cleopatra" started pre-production in 1958 and it was released in 1963. And it is a film that urge everyone to see. Prepare to spend an evening at home. It is a very long but interesting film (despite what critics say). It was said to be the most expensive movie that 20th Century Fox made...and Dame Elizabeth Taylor walked away with seven million dollars. She discovered how to be a shrewd businesswoman. Maybe an attribute that Mike Todd had instilled in her. But there is a new generation of Elizabeth Taylor fame who believe that her career started with "Cleopatra". I receive messages from them every day. They do not know the history that Elizabeth Taylor had had pre 1963. And it was quite a history. This new generation of Elizabeth Taylor fans know her from her HIV/AIDS Fundraising, which is a cause that Elizabeth was put on this Earth to fight. She readily states that at the conception of AIDS, she (as Hollywood) thought that it was a horrible disease, killing lovely people that she had known and worked with. With the help of Dr.Mathilde Krim, they created AmFAR (The American Foundation of AIDs Research) in 1985. Elizabeth served as Chairwoman of the Board for AmFar for many years. She went on to created fundraising events at the Cannes Film Festival in 1993...again, raising millions of dollars every year. Her own foundation sends money to AIDS Service Organizations all over the world for direct client/patient care. Dame Elizabeth Taylor was Queen of The Nile, but now she ...

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf - Getting Angry, Baby?

One of my favorite scenes (and there are oh so many) from the film adaptation of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" For the longest time, I thought I'd hate this movie based on the title alone. On watching it, I was completely blown away. I never did understand why people always made such a fuss about Elizabeth Taylor, until I saw her in this film. Absolutely wonderful movie. If you've never seen it, I can't recommend it enough.

A tribute to the greatest couple ever!!! A sad Video of Cleopatra and Mark Anthony's Love!!!! The love story of these two wonderful People (Elizabeth and Richard) : "Cleopatra" was the first film Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton starred together in 1963!!! (the shootings started in 1961) They instantly fell in love with each other during the making of the film!!! After Cleopatra they starred together in the film "The VIPs". They were both married to others but their love and desire was stronger than them and so they got divorce and married each other!! They starred together in 11 movies and they adopted a baby girl from Germany!! They divorce for the first time in 1974 after 10 years of marriage. After a year from their separation they got married again in 1975 only to separate for the second time almost a year later. They were mend to be together though, even if they were no longer with each other they were still working together. In 1984 Richard died tragicaly and Elizabeth was devastated. In an interview some years ago she said that if Richard was alive they would have gotten back together. I believe that Elizabeth was right!!! Elizabeth Taylor - Michael Jackson - by Richard Bassett

The friendship between Dame Elizabeth Taylor and Michael Jackson began in 1985. Just as Elizabeth was obtaining the foundation to tackle HIV/AIDS discrimination in America...she met Michael Jackson. Their common bond has been working since they were very young children, thus, being robbed of a childhood but now they, no doubt, love each other very much. It is a very special, private relationship... not to be discussed or picked apart by those who know no better. In my eyes, Michael is a special man, vindicated from horrendous accusations and....as a fan, I intuitively believe that he will make the biggest comebacks in the history of show business. It is in the stars. Dame Elizabeth's attachment to complex, multi-dimensional people goes back to 1949 when her friendship with Montgomery Clift began. Monty was a tormented soul. She always knew the strength that was needed to maintain balance in this entertainment industry and has always possessed it herself. Her need for HIV/AIDS fundraising does not stem from wanting to feel important or prove anything to the world. It comes from her heart and soul. It comes from experiencing such loss that has encompassed her for two decades now. In the most egotistical, self-serving business that exists today, she gives of herself freely choosing to ignore all of that other superfluous stuff. Please donate if you can. Michael Jackson The True King Of Pop Rock and Soul - Elizabeth Taylor 1989

Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 June 25, 2009) Was an American recording artist, entertainer and businessman. The seventh child of the Jackson family, he made his debut on the professional music scene in 1968 as a member of The Jackson 5. He then began a solo career in 1971 while still a member of the group. Referred to as the "King of Pop" in subsequent years, his 1982 album Thriller remains the world's best-selling album of all time, and four of his other solo studio albums are among the world's best-selling records: Off the Wall (1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991) and HIStory (1995). In the early 1980s, he became a dominant figure in popular music and the first African American entertainer to amass a strong crossover following on MTV. The popularity of his music videos airing on MTV, such as "Beat It", "Billie Jean" and "Thriller"—widely credited with transforming the music video from a promotional tool into an art form—helped bring the relatively new channel to fame. Videos such as "Black or White" and "Scream" made Jackson an enduring staple on MTV in the 1990s. With stage performances and music videos, Jackson popularized a number of physically complicated dance techniques, such as the robot and the moonwalk. His distinctive musical sound and vocal style influenced many hip hop, pop and contemporary R&B artists across several generations. Jackson donated and raised millions of dollars for beneficial causes through his foundations, charity singles, and ...
