From "Works Volume One- 1977" (at the Olympic Stadium Montreal) - Keith Emerson: Yamaha GX1 polyphonic synthesizer - Greg Lake: 8-string bass - Carl Palmer: percussion, drums "Fanfare for the Common Man" is a 20th-century American classical music work by American composer Aaron Copland. The piece was written in 1942 for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra under conductor Eugene Goossens. It was inspired in part by a famous speech made earlier in the same year where vice president Henry A. Wallace proclaimed the dawning of the "Century of the Common Man". Several cover versions have been made and fragments of work has appeared in many subsequent US and British cultural productions, such as in the musical scores of movies. Copland's fanfare was used in 1977 by British rock band Emerson, Lake & Palmer on the album Works Volume 1. The track became one of the band's biggest hits when an edited version was released as a single that year. It peaked at No. 2 in the UK. ELP - Closer To Believing

Emerson, Lake and Palmer: Closer to Believing Lyrycs: I am closer to believing Than I ever was before On the crest of this elation Must I crash upon the shore And with the driftwood of acquaintance ...Light the fire to love once more I am wind blown...i am times. To be closer to believing To be just a breath away On the death of inspiration I would buy back yesterday But there's no crueller illusion There's no sharper coin to pay As I reach out... it slips away From the opium of custom To the ledges of extremes Don't believe it till you've held it Life is seldom what it seems But lay your heart upon the table And in the shuffling of dreams Remember who on earth you are I need me You need you We want us But of course you know I love you Or what else am I here for Only you not face to face But side by side for evermore And I need to be here with you For without you what am i Just another fool out searching For some heaven in the sky Take me closer to believing Take me forward lead me on Through collision and confusion While there's life beneath the sun You are the reason I continue So near for so long So close yet so far away I need me You need you We want us to live forever So don't let the curtain fall Measure after measure Of writing on the wall That burns so brightly It blinds us all I need me You need you We want us to be together On sundays in the rain Closer than forever Against or with the grain To ride the storms of love again So be closer to believing Though your ...

ELP - Promenade (From "Pictures At An Exhibition- Special Edition" DVD)

www.eagle-rock.com "Pictures At An Exhibition" was filmed at the Lyceum in London in December 1970. A slightly different version was recorded for a live album release in Newcastle in early 1971. The film version was finally released in cinemas in 1973 and has had brief previous releases on VHS and DVD. This new special edition, forty years on from when it was originally filmed, has the most complete version of the film available and is presented in the best possible sound and picture quality, complete with the original seventies psychedelic effects. The band are on fantastic form and their awesome musicianship is instantly apparent. Emerson, Lake & Palmer - ELP - Take a Pebble - Live 71 - with great intersections

One of the ELP pieces I like most. On the johnnyprogger1 channel you can hear ELP and other progressive rock bands like Genesis, Focus, Pink Floyd, Yes, Renaissance, Rush, Niacin, Queen, Jehtro Tull, Kansas, Gentle Giant, Marillion, Camel, besides Deep Purple, Beatles, Iron Maiden. Take a Pebble (lyrics) Just take a pebble and cast it to the sea, Then watch the ripples that unfold into me, My face spill so gently into your eyes, Disturbing the waters of our lives. Shread of our memories are lying on your grass; Wounded words of laughter are graveyards of the past. Photographs are grey and torn, scattered in your fields Letters of your mem'ries are not real. Sadness on your shoulders like a wornout overcoat In pockets creased and tattered hang the rags of your hope. The daybreak is your midnight; the colours have all died. Disturbing the waters of our lives, of our lives, of our lives, lives, lives, lives... Of our lives.

EMERSON LAKE & PALMER-PIRATES Pt1: Perf. by Young Symphony Orchestra & Band from São Paulo-Brasil

The Young Symphony Orchestra & Band from São Paulo-Brasil have performed several concerts from classical music to Brazilian music and Classic Rock, in this case EMERSON LAKE & PALMER-PIRATES was performed firstly and then Rick Wakeman's Arthur album. Through the years they have performed Journey To The Centre Of The Earth as well along the amazing Sao Paulo University Choir in several venues, they are all together again at Latin America Memorial in Sao Paulo conducted by Monica Giardini in a concert to remember, I got this video from a tape which I don't know who filmed, but as the sound quality was not so good, I decided to mix the audio from their CD released officially here in Brazil and through Voiceprint label (www.voiceprint.co.uk /VP271CD/) in which their performance is incredible, as well the ELP's Pirates piece, which was such perfect, and added some pictures I took from one of the concerts I had pleased to watch, plus light effects. Well, they performed this piece so brilliantly so I decided to share it with all ELP fans hoping they repeat either Journey and Arthur/Pirates performances again. Congratulations Monica and all the members of the Orchestra, Band and Choir for the excellent work!
