Michael Gibson - The True English Poetry Party

Knutsford's Michael George Gibson performs English poetry over 1300 years, and also his own poems and tunes. He has translated and recorded some of the older stuff such as Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, and has performed at Arts Festivals round the country and at the International Medieval Congress. He is also an organic gardener who was once a smallholder in Mobberley keeping goats, sheep, fowl and bees. He is standing in two major Elections this spring. Michael is a veteran of General Elections. In the 1970s he was a member of The Ecology Party which later became The Green Party. But he decided to stand as the ultra-green Feudal Party in Withington in 1979 and again in 1983. Then he took on Neil (and Christine) Hamilton in Tatton in 1987, and again in 1992 when he polled 410 votes.

English Literature Poems

Okay, so for English we had to do a powerpoint about four poems, and we had to be original. So for my 'Personal Comment', I did video interpretations of the four poems. And here they are (remember I can't draw) And what are people's thoughts on the kirby picture at the end? Good? Bad? Your thoughts?

William Blake poem 'The Lamb' English Language Poetry

William Blake poem 'The Lamb' with text. Blake's illustration of "The Lamb" "The Lamb" is a poem by William Blake, published in Songs of Innocence in 1789. Like many of Blake's works, the poem is about Christianity. Like the other Songs of Innocence and Experience, The Lamb was intended to be sung; William Blake's original melody is now lost. It was made into a song by Vaughan Williams. It was also set to music by Sir John Tavener, who explained, "The Lamb came to me fully grown and was written in an afternoon and dedicated to my nephew Simon for his 3rd birthday." American poet Allen Ginsberg set the poem to music, along with several other of Blake's poems.[1] The Lamb can be compared to a more grandiose Blake poem: The Tyger in Songs of Experience. Critical analysis suggests that both poems, "The Lamb" and "The Tyger," question the Christian belief that God is good; if God is responsible for creating both the good things in life (the lamb) and the evil things (the tyger), how can God be good and moral?[original research?] The lamb in the poem may be compared to Jesus Christ, who is also known as "The Lamb of God"

heath ledger - 10 things I hate about you (poem english)

now in english jejej poem (lyric) I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car, I hate it when you stare. I hate your big dumb combat boots and the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick, it even makes me rhyme. I hate it... I hate the way youre always right, I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry. I hate it when youre not around, and the fact that you didnt call. But mostly I hate the way I dont hate you, not even close not even a little bit, not even at all.
If You Forget Me (Pablo Neruda read by Madonna)

Poem "If You Forget Me" by Pablo Neruda, read by Madonna. A tribute to the Poet. The lovely lady in the photograph is Clara Bow from the movie Wings. If You Forget Me I want you to know one thing. You know how this is: if I look at the crystal moon, at the red branch of the slow autumn at my window, if I touch near the fire the impalpable ash or the wrinkled body of the log, everything carries me to you, as if everything that exists, aromas, light, metals, were little boats that sail toward those isles of yours that wait for me. Well, now, if little by little you stop loving me I shall stop loving you little by little. If suddenly you forget me do not look for me, for I shall already have forgotten you. If you think it long and mad, the wind of banners that passes through my life, and you decide to leave me at the shore of the heart where I have roots, remember that on that day, at that hour, I shall lift my arms and my roots will set off to seek another land. But if each day, each hour, you feel that you are destined for me with implacable sweetness, if each day a flower climbs up to your lips to seek me, ah my love, ah my own, in me all that fire is repeated, in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten, my love feeds on your love, beloved, and as long as you live it will be in your arms without leaving mine. Richard Burton reads ST Coleridge's 'The Rime of the ancient Mariner' - Upload 1/3

This historic recording has been kindly put at my disposal by YouTuber HughJason for the delight and pleasure of all other poetry lovers on YouTube. Samuel Taylor Coleridge - The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Voices: Richard Burton - the mariner Robert Hardy - the wedding guest John Neville - narrator The recording year is not clear but the cassette states that this and some other recordings are in mono. Elsewhere is referred to the years of the 'original sound' which are 1955, 1965 and 1978. So my conclusion is that 1955 as recording year for 'The Mariner' is a good guess. I did not bother to illustrate the upload with video material or stills. The poem is powerful enough to speak for its own without any video support. In view of the length of the poem I had to make three uploads which I refer to as 'upload 1 -2 and 3, not *part* 1-2 and 3, this to avoid confusion with the various parts of the poems which are also subdivided in 'parts I up to VII'.

Alphabet songs typically follow the alphabetic principle (though the phonics method offers variants). In languages such as English with morphophonemic variation, an alphabet song usually chooses a particular pronunciation for each letter in the alphabet (ie "cake" is /ˈkeɪk/, not [ˈkaːkɛ]) and also typically for some words in the song. The melody of traditional alphabet song is used in Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, a popular English nursery rhyme. The lyrics are from an early nineteenth-century English poem, "The Star" by Jane Taylor. The poem, which is in couplet form, was first published in 1806 in Rhymes for the Nursery, a collection of poems by Taylor and her sister Ann.
