Many of you have requested that I do a review of my new Epiphone Les Paul Appetite For Destruction Guitar. I had it shipped to Guitar Center and I received it in about 4 days. It cost $999 and it is well worth the money. Now that i have had the guitar for about a month and a half, I have had a chance to really get to play around with it. It is a nice upgrade from my previous guitar (epiphone Les Paul Standard) and the tone is noticeably better. The guitar has Slash's signature Seymour Duncan Alnico II (2) Pro Slash Humbucker Pickups in it as well as Orange Drop capacitors which play a big role in Slash's tone. The finish is amazing and this is a one of a kind guitar that you can't go wrong with. All of the hardware is essentially the same as the Gibson model..... The only big difference is the name on the headstock. My main amp is a Marshall JMP MKII but it blew up on me so in the video i am using a Blackstar HT Stage 60..... It is suprisingly a very good amp. the tone is killer in both the amp and guitar. In the clean test i play "Dont Cry" - Guns 'n Roses. In the Overdrive (crunch) I play "Back From Cali" - Slash. In the overdrive 2 channel I play "Paradise City" - Guns 'n Roses. And in the overdrive 2 channel with a BOSS FS-S1 boost pedal I play "The Godfather Theme" - Slash. I am using a Sony HDR-CX150. It's a beautiful guitar.... after making this video I had a long sitdown and got used to playing it. For anyone interested I'm showcasing the higher end Epi Broadway, the Japanese made Elitist. The guitar is strung with D'Addario Chromes 13-56 and the light e-string is a 14. Starting out all acoustic, then adding some volume. The last part is improvising over one of my originals with a rhythm section.

My New Baby EpiPhone Pro features a Floyd Rose whammy bar and Split Coil Humbuckers. Epiphone's Les Paul Plus Top Pro/FX has all the great features and looks of a Les Paul but adds a double-locking Floyd Rose tremolo and coil-splitting for an amazing combination of crunch and versatility. In the neck position is Epiphone's Alnico Classic humbucker, which provides warmth and subtle tone with a full, even response that doesn't hold back when you need that classic humbucker crunch. In the bridge position is the Alnico Classic Plus humbucker. A perfect companion to the Classic, it is overwound for a slightly higher output without sacrificing its rich, vintage tone. Both feature Alnico-II magnets, enamel wire, and are double vacuum waxed. 4-wire output on each pup allows for coil-tapping, and this Les Paul guitar takes full advantage of it with push/pull potentiometers on both volume controls. Combined with the 3-way toggle, these give you 8 killer tones in one great Les Paul guitar. The Epiphone Pro/FX guitar features a Floyd Rose Special nickel-plated tremolo. The Les Paul body is routed out in back of the tremolo to allow for pitch raising up to 2-1/2 steps while the downward range is wide enough to get the strings slack. It's combined with an R4 locking nut for improved tuning stability. As with all great Epiphone Les Paul guitars, the Pro/FX features a solid Mahogany back with a highly flamed maple top and a solid mahogany neck that's hand-fitted and glued into the body <b>...</b>

I'm comparing a Gibson 335 to an Epiphone DOT. I'm not sure how old the Gibson is... it's at least 20 years old. The Epiphone is only a couple years old, and it has the stock pickups in it. I'm playing through a Roland Cube 30.

READ INFO DESCRIPTION HERE! Hello to everyone. Here is me demonstrating the new wiring and pickups to my Epi Les Paul custom Black Beauty 3. The guitar now have T-top replicas in the bridge and middle position and a Jimmy Page burstbucker in the neck (this one was before at the bridge, I am a trusty fan of Jimmy Page sound!). The axe is wired with 3 volumes and 1 master tone circuit, so you can have SEVEN combination of sounds: 1) bridge, 2) bridge +middle, 3) middle, 4) neck+middle, 5) neck, 6) bridge + neck 7) bridge + middle + neck (this one is a supersound!) Bridge+middle & neck+middle is a very stratocasterian sound. You can hear this position when I play "sultan of swings/ sweet home alabama" and "little wing" respectivally. Plus I have installed two PUSH-PULL switches, one to split bridge and middle pickups (listen to "won't get fooled again" and the country impro) and the other to reverse the phase between neck and bridge pups ( "black magic woman"). I'm very happy with this guitar now, it has wonderful sounds combinations and this increased its versatily a lot, you can play everything you like. I'm waiting to install a bigsby vibrato (not a b7, here in Italy are very hard to find!) and enjoy jamming with friends and discovering old and new tones. Hope you like it!

Comparing two wonderful SGs. I think they both sound great. They feel quite different, but that's not a bad thing. Unfortunately I had the input level on the Zoom H2 a little hot so there is some annoying mic distortion. Sorry about that. Both guitars are completely STOCK. I'm playing through my Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 100 1960AV halfstack.

Honestly, they are both awesome guitars. The gibson has better electronics, neck binding, a bit better tuners, and a thicker neck profile. The Epiphone is extremely well constructed though. No sharp fret edges, top of the frets are level (rare on cheap guitars, and very desireable for those that want low action), and it feels awesome. I cant get over the finish either, I am SO glad that I got it. I got a smokin' deal from Musicians Friend on it too. $350 (including tax and shipping) with a new Epiphone hardshell case. I actually talked the representative into giving me an additional 10% off as well, so it came out to $315! HAH! Amazing value. I HIGHLY recommend this guitar to anyone that is in the market for an SG. You are going to have to set it up (ie lower the strings and set the intonation), but you will need to do this to any guitar that you get. I had to set my Gibson up the same way. If you looking for the Angus young sound, the bridge pickup is a little darker sounding than the 498T on my Gibson SG Standard. You may want to upgrade to a hotter pickup. The epiphone pickups are not bad at all though, they are more vintage sounding. I am upgrading the bridge pickup to an Angus Young Signature in a few days, but I am leaving the neck pickup alone for now. I'll be changing the cover on the neck pickup to "nickel" in order to match the Angus though. It should sound awesome!
