Ravne tunnel labyrinth excavations September 1-3, 2011

Archaeological Park volunteers uncover new tunnels and stonework in the Ravne tunnel labyrinth in Visoko, Bosnia, September 1-3, 2011. Donations are needed for the Archaeological Park nonprofit project. The mission of the project is to excavate four pyramids (two of which are larger than the Great Pyramid in Egypt) and one temple, as well as the Ravne underground tunnel labyrinth that goes for tens, perhaps hundreds, of kilometers. For some reason, the labyrinth was filled with a loose mixture of sand and small river rocks, either by the culture that created the tunnels or by a subsequent culture. There are millions of tons of material to remove, and all the work must be done by hand. The nonprofit needs light-weight wheelbarrows, carts, picks, fiberglass shovels, volunteers, and much much more. If you have ideas on fundraising, please write Jock Doubleday, Public Relations Director, jock.doubleday@piramidasunca.ba If you have money to donate, please visit: www.piramidasunca.ba Or to donate online: www.piramidasunca.ba For more information on the Ravne underground tunnel complex and the pyramids and temples of Visoko, Bosnia, please visit: www.piramidasunca.ba www.bosnian-pyramid.com www.facebook.com

Excavations deepen Israeli-Palestinian divide - 16 Apr 09

Israeli authorities are digging tunnels under East Jerusalem, as part of its takeover of Palestinian neighbourhoods. Palestinians fear that the very foundations of their lives could be under threat from the tunnels that cut close to the heart of what Muslims call the Haram al-Shareef, known as the Temple Mount to Jews and sacred to both. Al Jazeera's Clayton Swisher reports.

gizamap.com www.richardgabriel.info More Giza News and Confirmation Something is Happening... According to a tip from still another source, I got the following very hot info (paraphrased to conceal their identity): "...A friend of an unamed military enlisted guy was being sent to Egypt because of a heat signature registered in the "top room" of the 'major pyramid" -- apparently, according to him, an area that no one had access to. The source went on to say that he found it interesting that the US had surveillance on the internal structure of the pyramid but he was informed that he should not be surprised, the US has bases everywhere. The most stunning thing is that this room not even the US has access to and neither does anyone else and yet there was this heat signature...And mention of an "entity". This friend was deployed a few days ago with some special forces to Egypt. Apparently between roughly April 22-23 when that unknown entity appeared and today there has already been a full scale operation dispatched. That is, they are saying, very quick work for the military." I remote viewed that "room" at the top of the pyramid after hearing this news and clearly saw a very tall being, dressed in gold, wearing a bird headdress and the name I got was Ibis. On consulting our friends at the Giza Geomatrix I was informed, that that is Thoth. Looks like there really is something going on at Giza beyond stealing antiquities and treasure. Stay tuned for my 2nd interview with the ...

EES Excavations at Amarna Part 1: John Pendlebury

Among the many treasures kept in the Egypt Exploration Society's Lucy Gura Archive is the 'film record' of excavations at Tell el-Amarna, which was made over the course of three seasons from 1930 to 1933. The excerpts used here were selected for what they show of the character of the expedition Director, John Pendlebury, and his love of athletic competition and play-acting. For further information on the film please see the following recently published article: 'The "Film Record of the Egypt Exploration Society's Excavations at Tell-El-Amarna"' KMT vol. 21, No. 3 (Fall 2010), 45-53. www.kmtjournal.com The footage is also accompanied by the voices of Julia Samson and Margaret Drower both of whom worked with Pendlebury at Amarna. Their reminiscences were recorded by Rosalind Janssen during the 1990s and digitized recently as part of the Society's Oral History Project. The Society is very grateful to Mrs Janssen for her generosity in allowing the digital recordings to be added to the Society's archives, and for permission to use the sections included here. Exploring the Roots of Mesopotamian Civilization: Excavations at Tell Zeidan, Syria

Exploring the Roots of Mesopotamian Civilization: Excavations at Tell Zeidan, Syria Gil Stein, Oriental Institute The Ubaid period (6th-5th millennia BC) saw the first establishment of towns and villages across Mesopotamia. This period provides the first evidence for the emergence of political leadership, economic differences between rich and poor, irrigation-based economies, dominating regional centers or towns, and the development of temples in these centers. In this lecture, Gil Stein discusses recent excavations at the Ubaid-period site of Tell Zeidan in Syria and the expansion of Ubaid culture across Mesopotamia. Lectures are free and open to the public due to the generous support of Oriental Institute Members. Persons with disabilities who need an accommodation in order to participate in this event should contact the event sponsor for assistance.

EES Excavations at Amarna Part 2: The House of Hatiay

Among the many treasures kept in the Egypt Exploration Society's Lucy Gura Archive is the 'film record' of excavations at Tell el-Amarna, which was made over the course of three seasons from 1930 to 1933. The excerpts used here focus on the excavation of house T34.1 in the north suburb of the city. The house had been built by Akhenaten's overseer of works, Hatiay, and was notable for its series of doorways built in stone rather than mudbrick, one of which was found to be ' simply smothered in inscriptions', which provided the name of the home-owner. For further information on the film please see the following recently published article: 'The "Film Record of the Egypt Exploration Society's Excavations at Tell-El-Amarna"' KMT vol. 21, No. 3, Fall 2010, pp. 45-53. www.kmtjournal.com We are very grateful to Dr Carolyn Routledge for permission to use photographs of the replica lintel now on the display in the Bolton Museum and Art Gallery: tinyurl.com For further information about the EES and its archives or if you would like to support our ongoing work please visit www.ees.ac.uk.

The Archaeology of Cheshire - Middlewich Roman Excavations

In 2005 a community excavation took place in the town of Middlewich to locate and investigate Roman activity and remains that lay in the earth just off King Street. The project was part of the 2005 Middlewich Roman Festival and was a great success in many ways and for many reasons. Archaeologist and Historian James Balme was commissioned to record on video the excavations as part of his wider remit to capture the forthcoming Middlewich Roman Festival. This film is a short compilation taken from the footage shot at the archaeological site during the investigations that took place.

Herodian Road Excavation at the City of David

In June of 2004, municipal workers who were repairing a sewage drain in the City of David were shocked to discover a staircase deep underneath the ground. Salvage excavations done at the site revealed that the stairs are part of an ancient thoroughfare, leading from the Shiloach Pool - the major water drawing source in Jerusalem from Biblical times, to the Temple Mount over 2300 feet to the north. Excavations conducted by Eli Shukron are discovering the original stones walked upon by the Jewish people as they made their pilgrimage to the Jewish temple most notably on the festivals of Passover, Shavuot and Succoth. In places, the pavement was broken, revealing an underground drainage channel filled with whole pottery vessels and coins. Josephus Flavius, a famous historian of that period, describes this very place as one where the Jews unsuccessfully attempted to hide during the Roman Revolt in 70 CE. For over 2000 years this road has secretly laid, hidden from the world. Today, in the center of Jerusalem, in the historic City of David, we have the unique opportunity to once again reveal this road before the eyes of the world. 'Swamp Logging' by Moorlands Specialist Excavations Ltd

Clearing around 5 acres of Willow on a wetland that hs completely taken over and strangled an existing reed bed. The Operation uses a Low Ground Pressure Kubota Kx 080 excavator coupled to an Engcon Tiltrotator and Selector Grab. Bog Mats are used for safety, and working in conjunction with a fully trained and highly experienced Chainsaw Operator the process allows the total removal of the willow with roots to prevent re-growth. The main factor is that Chainsaw operators are not rquired to work in the dangerous conditions and the actual trees are brought to them to process on a safe hard standing with suitable safe zone. As can clearly be seen no manual handling is required and work is almost continuous with excellent daily outputs.

Excavation at the "New Gate" of Jerusalem

Jerusalem: the area of Porta Nuova (New Gate) as it is today, with its new streets. And the new square at the cross-section with Jaffa Road, and as it was yesterday.... Recently, after the construction of the new tramway in Jerusalem, the remains of a monastery destroyed during the war of 1948 were discovered. It belonged to the Sisters of Reparation, a contemplative order dedicated to charitable works. Gerald Finkelstein, the Israel Antiquities Authority archaeologist, led the excavations and tells the little known story of this part of the town, which in the late 1800's became known as the "French Quarter" of Jerusalem. "We found buildings that were on either side of the Gate, and where we are now was the convent of the Sisters of Mary of Reparation. Behind me are buildings with houses and shops for pilgrims, while further towards the Damascus Gate, the Franciscan school for boys." Finkelstein found that near the monastery there were plenty of souvenir shops for Christian pilgrims. His studies show that, judging by some of what was found during the excavations, not much has changed in the business of souvenirs in the past 60 years: crucifixes, rosaries, medals, crosses of the Holy Land, perfumes. Also found there were many bullets, pieces of cannon and the still-working whistle of a British policeman.... All evidence of life, buried under the rubble of what was destroyed in 1948. "This whole area is very important for the history of Catholicism in the nineteenth century ...
