I found this tape at the Goodwill about a year ago and I finally have the hardware to do this. This tape is from 1997 and explains how to use your new Thunder plus an informercial at the end. I've never used a Fantom before, but if that vacuum store seriously sold all those Fantoms from trade ins on Kirby's and Concepts, this must be an amazing machine. Plus it's made in North America, not China! Also, please note the the audio is a little off, but this is not from me. This has always been like this while in the VCR. Anyway enjoy the tape! Roland Jupiter 8 & Fantom X6 Live Improv
Yay! It looks like my JP-8 is finally fixed. I bought it last summer and it's been in and out of the shop since then. OK, so I've got the JP-8 in DUAL mode with the same sound for both upper & lower with some slight differences and played with its built-in arpeggiator in RANDOM mode (a la Duran Duran). Next, I have the Jupiter running into the Fantom's external input sharing the MFX with the Infinate Phaser patch which I use to noodle around with along with the D Beam. I also tweak the JP-8's filter using an EV-5 pedal.

Vacuum Request: Fantom Fury and Thunders
The video I refered to I removed, so here is the info I didn't give. The 11 Amp was garbage picked some time ago. When I got it, there was a clog that took me some time to find and it needed a belt. I soon found out that if the vac was left plugged in, it would turn on by itself at no given time. My friend got a regular Fury that I tried out and it worked horribly compared to any of my Fantoms. At least I got to use one. I hope to own 1 of those too. 12 Amp Thunder- 8/14/08 12 Amp Fury LE- 8/5/08( I also thought I bought this after the 12 Amp Thunder!)

Hi, I'm Bren heres a tutorial for you to be able to start Using RPS to turn off and on the separate sounds within your performance smoothly" My Voice is quiet so here are written instructions as well, I hope this help you, The easy way to do this previously was to the use the mute feature within the performance settings But this has it's problems because unlike RPS it's not a smooth transition Programming the systex and using RPS is far better and only takes around ten minutes to set up a good basic setting that is then permanently saved within the fantoms memory or on a memory card, Ready to be recalled at any time So let's give it a shot, What I've done is created a test performance using 4 of the 16 available tracks, On Track 1 Is piano Track 2 light strings Track 3 synth Track 4 organ I'm then going to program the systex so that I'm able to turn off and on any of these parts using some of the fantoms 16 orange touuch pads To make it straightforward I'm going to use the pads as follows Pad 1. Will Turn track 1 on and pad 5 will turn it off again Pad 2 turns track 2 on and pad 6will turn it off again Pad 3 turns track 3 on and pad 7 will turn it off again Pad 4 turns track 4 on and pad 8 will turn it off again I'll Demo the performance and i'll Use the old mute way to demonstrate its limitations Now lets make a start to program the systex commands Step one. Turn of track one. (this will eventually be assigned to pad 5) Press Record. Select to record to pattern 5 <b>...</b>

Something else that I was supposed to mention that was in the deleted video was a reference to the Fury that was my friends. Got home and had a little time so I went into the studio to play around. Randomly chose a record from the crate...Eddie Harris "a little wes"...to get a sample. Recorded sample into the Fantom S. Added a drum pattern then layered the drum with the drums from the Korg Radias. Then I tried mixing basslines with the beat . Note I am a percussionist. lol

Roland Fantom-G: breaking beats
In this video I'd like to show you how to create breakbeats with the Roland Fantom-G. I take a drum'n'bass loop and manually select several portions of it that get assigned to a sample set on the keyboard. This technique can be applied to any sort of phrase loops to create variations and remixes on the fly.
