This was the last day of the Finali Mondiali Ferrari at the Mugello circuit, the nineteenth running of the event that gives fans from around the world the chance to see competitors in all Ferrari's racing and sporting activities together in one place. This morning at the Tuscan track, the 458s and F430s in the Italian, European, North American and Asia Pacific series of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli were fighting it out for the world title. The busy programme also featured some untimed sessions for historic Formula 1 cars, run by Maranello's F1 Clienti Department, as well as the FXX and 599XX from the eponymous development programmes. Spectacular overtaking and action were the key ingredients of the final races of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli which saw the 2011 world champions crowned. The title among the Trofeo Pirelli runners went to Lorenzo Bontempelli to add to his International GT Open crown. Behind the Kessel Racing driver came Alexander Skryabin (Ferrari Moscow) and Philipp Baron (Baron Service) while among the gentleman drivers in the Coppa Shell, the title went to Giacomo Stratta (Forza,) who crossed the line ahead of Philippe Prette (Motor/Malucelli) and Andrii Kruglyk (Ferrari Moscow.) The 16th edition of the Ferrari Finali Mondiali, which was being held in Valencia, Spain, this year for the first time, ended on Sunday night with a spectacular twist as two Prancing Horse sports cars made an appearance during the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía's evening performance of Opera Sinfonica del Mediterraneo. Thanks to special choreography the two cars appeared to be floating over the sea: a 599 GTB Fiorano HGTE and a 458 Italia, the latest model from Ferrari. The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía is world famous landmark building designed by the Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava. Its sculpted form is highly symbolic, looking like a ship stranded in the old riverbed of the Turia River. This monumental building has become a dynamic feature of the urban area. The innovative architecture of this forty thousand square metre building, seventy-five metres high, accommodates four venues for opera, music, ballet, theatre, receptions and conferences with platforms project at different levels with passage ways and Mediterranean gardens. Access to the different areas is provided by means of panoramic lifts and staircases situated inside the porcelain sides of the building. The contrast between the opaque porcelain and the glass foyers produce ever-changing sensations when walking about the theatre. Amalgam Fine Model Cars spent 27th-28th November in Valencia for this years Ferrari Finali Mondiali 2010. Our weekend was spent demonstrating some of the processes we go through when hand building our model cars. The stand took centre stage within the Ferrari Hospitality Suite, overlooking the track. We were displaying a selection of our Ferrari collection, as well as a complete set of unassembled parts for our 1:8 scale Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa. It was a pleasure to be met with such enthusiasm from Ferrari professionals and enthusiasts alike and we look forward to the next installment.
