Fishermen surprised by jumping barracuda Two anglers go berserk when a big fish suddenly flies through the air and lands on their boat. Fishermen go berserk after 40-pound barracuda jumps into boat It's gratifying for anglers when fish are cooperative, but for three Florida fishermen a 40-pound great barracuda was a bit too accommodating, having launched itself through the air and onto their small boat. Chaos ensued, understandably, as the hooked fish soared over angler Kevin Faver's right shoulder and began to flop wildly on the deck. Faver, Brad Deckard and Bill Pollackov were fishing off St. Augustine for a cable television program titled, "Tails From the Outdoors Show." In a longer version of the video, there's much more banter. Faver can be heard exclaiming, "He went over my head dude, and it was like, 'Oh my God.' " To which came Deckhard's response, "I'm only laughing because we're all still alive and we don't have to go to the hospital." Pollackov was the cameraman. To be sure, the situation could have turned ugly had the errant fish struck any of the anglers. Great barracuda are slender and incredibly speedy, and perhaps most known for their frightening appearance, made so by a projecting lower jaw lined with razor sharp teeth. The fishermen also were fortunate that the "cuda" wasn't a larger specimen. They're known to reach lengths of five-plus feet and can weigh 100-plus pounds.

Angered by claims from state and federal officials that Gulf Coast waters are safe and clean, fishermen took their own samples of the waters off of Pass Christian, Mississippi on August 11th, 2010. I had the opportunity to go along and see first hand the results, as well as the thin, oily sheen and bubbles caused by dispersant that streak the Mississippi sound. The testing method is simple: tie an absorbent rag to a weighted hook, then drop it overboard for a minute or two. In all but one of the samples, the rags came up with brown oily substance which the fishermen identify as a mix of crude oil from the BP disaster and toxic dispersants. Amateur video taken of an extraordinary event as a group of fishermen rescue a drowning baby moose on Rainy Lake in Northwestern Ontario near Fort Frances. The first 2 minutes has no audio, but the remainder of the video includes audio. The video was submitted to the Fort Frances Times who also had sports reporter Mitch Calvert cover the story. Excerpt from the story 'We were just fishing a series of rock piles and we looked over and about 500-600 yards away we saw this thing swimming around, Steve Ballan noted. At first we thought it was a bear, but we noticed a cabin over there, so we thought it mightve been a dog, he added. We kept watching it from afar and it was swimming around in circles in the same circle for 40 minutes or so.
