A quick demo of the Ibanez FL-9 Flanger reissue guitar effects pedal. A Flanger gets its signature sound by combining the original signal with a modulated, or delayed copy. Doing this creates distinct "whooshing" sounds as the waveforms interact with one another, where the "comb filter" effect starts to become apparent. For guitar, a flanger can be used to provide a bit of dimension, or to articulate harmonics. This is especially true when distortion is involved. This particular pedal has a very sweet and full sound to it, which is very unlike the Boss pedals that I've used before. I'm considering kicking the chorus pedal off of my board for this guy. Little. MXR EVH-117 EVH Flanger Demo
A two minute demo of four different settings on the MXR EVH-117 flanger pedal. This pedal is identical to the MXR-117R pedal except for the paint and the EVH button, which locks the pedal into "Unchained" setting mode, regardless of where the knobs are. Thick is the word I'd use to describe the sound. This flanger has a thicker and more pronounced envelope to it than the FL-9 I reviewed a few weeks ago. Although it can be dialed back to a subtle warble, you still can't help but hear the jet engine noise as the mod shifts back and forth. Lastly, I apologize for the terrible audio quality. I ordered a better recorder, but it got put on backorder, and I don't know when I'm going to get time to record demos in the next few weeks anyway. I hope you enjoy this shorter than normal pedal demo.

Exclusive "Filter Matrix" mode disengages the automatic sweep, allowing manual positioning of the filter bank to achieve chime-like metallic tones and other unique effects. Using the Deluxe Electric Mistress The electro-harmonix Deluxe Electric Mistress operates in two modes; flanging mode and filter matrix mode. In flanging mode, the flanging effect can be thought of as a pitch slowly sweeping between high and low limits superimposed on the guitar signal. The Rate control of the Deluxe Electric Mistress allows you to change the rate at which the effect occurs. With the Rate control fully counter-clockwise, the effect occurs at the slowest rate. Turning the dial clockwise increases the rate to the point where the frequency of the input signal appears to be shifted in a vibrato-like fashion. The electro-harmonix Deluxe Electric Mistress also has a Range control that allows you to set the lower limit of the sweep. Fully counter-clockwise settings, where the lower limit is just below the higher, creates a very narrow sweeping effect.
