
Hundreds Unexpectedly Broke Out in Viral Dance at Clackamas Town Center Portland, Oregon Saturday, September 5th, 2009 Portland Improv, a social experiment and performing arts group known to push the limits on the social norm, hosted their latest event, dubbed, Lets Dance!, at the Clackamas Town Clackamas Town Center at two oclock pm within the main mall corridor in front of the Macys Home Furniture Store. An audio track began playing through the mall speaker system, and two dancers began performing before the unsuspecting shoppers, this was followed by more and more of our dancers until all 120 were showing off their choreographed moves. The dance (1:20 min. long) then ended just as quickly as it began. When the music stopped all of the dancers simply dissipated into the rest of the crowd, leaving no explanation. Portland Improv is a collective mainly comprised of college students who like to provoke joy and create scenes in public places. Lets Dance! was Portland Improvs sixth event in Portland, the most famous of which being the Portland Freeze. The group coordinated over 1500 participants and had them all strike a pose and hold it for 5 minutes within the Pioneer Courthouse Square to literally freeze time. Recently, the Portland Freeze became an annual event and was replicated again alongside the Portland Rose Festival inside their Waterfront Village with even greater surprise and mayhem among bystanders (1000 participants).
