This 1999 Honda Accord (4cylinder, 4 speed automatic) has a fluctuating idle problem. This problem only occurs in Park and maybe Neutral. I have not tried Neutral.

Note the RPM's flicker up and down a little at idle. Normal for the FZR? Also check out the little white inline restrictors I have on the vac lines. Without these you can't accurately sync the FZR's carbs, because the gauges needles will flutter all over.

Kind of a request, I've described this procedure a few times in print but never made a video. As I said in the video if your having issues with a fluctuating idle, no heat, or an overheat problem you may want to start here. Also, if you have just serviced the cooling system in any way this is the procedure I recommend to fill it back up. The only regret I have with this one is the end where I didn't shoot footage of closing up the radiator using the tool that I used in the video, I may show it at some point in the future. I also want to add my "Idle Speech" into the mix here: There are a lot of things that can contribute to an idle issue, in fact in the end it may still be there to some degree because of the nature of that engine however here are some things to start with. First start with a good tune up, use NGK or Nippon Denso plugs, don't change the wires if they are OE, if they aren't OE you might consider NGK wires as they are very good and less expensive then OE. A quality cap and rotor should be good. A new air filter also helps. Don't change the PCV valve, if you see an aftermarket PCV valve in there put a Honda in, believe it or not I've seen idle issues caused by aftermarket PCV valves, the OE's last just about forever so you can <b>...</b>

REPLACED THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR AND IT FIXED THIS PROBLEM! My 2002 dodge durango v8 4.7L revs up and down at random when idling. It could be sitting there in park idling fine and then all of the suden rev up to about 2000 rpm's without me touching the gas. It does this while stoped at red lights and stop signs aswell. I have to hit the brake quick to avoid hitting the car in front of me. I took it to the place where I bought it to try to get it fixed and they just told me it didnt do it for them so they couldnt fix it. Well I did some research on my own and found out that it might be the THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. So I am going to try getting one and put it in and see if it fixes the problem. I hope so because it's really annoying!

I recently put a Weber 36 Carb on my YJ 4.2 258. It runs great but there are a few issues with it. First of all idle: Idle does not seem to keep steady its constantly fluctuating and sometimes will stall. This is even after adjusting the idle speed screw to about 900 RPM. Second is the High Idle: Ocasionally while driving, the engine will get stuck at 2000 RPM or 1500 RPM or 3000 RPM. I pull over and look under the hood during this time and noting seems to be effecting the linkage. If I rev up quickly it usually goes away or if I go under the hood it seems like the linkage to the carb is stuck, but it doesn't seem like its stuck to anything. Other then that the performance is great.

This is my Father's 1999 Toyota Camry with the 3.0 liter V6 (1MZ-FE) engine. About every three years, the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve always gets clogged up causing the car to keep stalling when cold started unless the accelerator was depressed while the engine warms up. It's expensive to replace (someone quoted my dad $300) but I read that a shot of carburetor cleaner down the hole usually takes care of the problem.

In this video I will be demonstrating how to replace the IACV on your older Subaru. This car is a 1993 Subaru Legacy Sedan 5 Speed. Yes, despite the red intake manifold, it is simply just an EJ22E, I painted the manifold while I was rebuilding it. I had to replace this because I was getting a CEL, and my car was idling like crap. I figure from here on out I might as well record my repairs and share it to those who might not know exactly what to do, but a repair like this is pretty straight forward. Hope you enjoy. 1991 Honda Accords, and most other Honda's such as Civic's, and Prelude's have this issue. This FIT valve issue, is common from just about every 2.2 liter Honda motor ever sold in the USA. The ABV, AIR BOAST VALVE, is what I was failing to remember to say in the video. But that little problem child would have been my last guess, after repairing and cleaning the Fast Idle Valve aka FIT. This video is to help others with this issue, because if you have the problem. It can be a nasty one to troubleshoot.

hey guys. I just got this integra. I think it has an idleing problem? the previous owner said the following.... " it has 153000 miles. I think it has a problem with the TPS (throttle positioning sensor) and also has an oil leak. The car runs great other than it idles to high at about 2000 rpms. As well as got the IACV replaced. The TPS I swapped out of an old head laying around. The idle air control valve is what was replaced and still didn't adjust the idle..." The distruibutor cap looks normal, no cracks or serious wear. I recorded a video and put it on youtube for a better diagnosis from anyone that would like to contribute and help me out. Take a look. Any ideas? Thanks!!!
