Koenigsegg Agera R - 402km/h fly by on the Nurburgring!
Last couple of days I visited the Gran Turismo Events on the Nurburgring. Koenigsegg Norway also enjoyed this great event with their Official Test Car 7031 Streetfighter and the World Record Car Agera R. When the awesome 1115 HP Koenigsegg Agera R passed the pit lane on Döttinger Höhe on Thursday everyone was amazed by the speed of the car. Using the whole 3.5 kilometer straight, the Koenigsegg logged a "quite impressive" 401.6 km/h before braking before the bridge at Tiergarten. The Agera R has a normal Koenigsegg road setup, was driven on 98 oktan fuel and on standard Michelin Pilot tires. I was doing 160km/hour in my Panda 100Hp when I saw the vette coming. I few seconds later, I just got my camera from the passenger seat and opend my window when it came by. I knew the guy... he was doing 320! Although I knew he was going fast, he still scared the shit out of me.

If you don't get/like it, just move on. My god. This flyby was performed after the last carrier launch of a tomcat, off USS Theodore Roosevelt. VF-31 and VF-213, the Tomcatters and Blacklions respectively, formed up for a massive 22-ship flyby. It was the end of a glorious era for the Tomcat, and the largest single tomcat flyby in at least the past 5 years, probably more. Shot by yours truly on March 10, 2006 off the Atlantic coast with a Sony DSC-P200.

Manned Venus Flyby - Orbiter Space Flight Simulator
-- Originally uploaded on April 5, 2010 -- The most complicated mission that I fly. Complex for the thin margins to maintain the original plan. Me to continue the numbers and me to finish with a ship flying over the planet Venus and returning to the Earth. My sincere admiration for people that 43 years before they calculated this mission and they made few errors. Orbiter Space Flight Simulator not to possess a Saturn-Venus, but the performances of the lunar rocket and the rocket Venus is similar. A manned Venus flyby was considered by NASA in the mid 1960s as part of the Apollo Applications Program, using hardware derived from the Apollo program. Launch would take place on October 31, 1973, with a Venus flyby on March 3, 1974 and return to Earth on December 1, 1974. By means of Saturn V technology, would be sent three men toward the interior of the Solar System in a journey of a year of duration, flyby Venus. The spacecraft, similar in design to that later would be sent to the space like the Skylab space station, it was thought so that the astronauts could travel "comfortably" during so much time, returning home in the same way to as the lunar Apollo. The S-IVB stage would be a 'wet workshop' similar to Skylab, first using the S-IVB engine to launch the mission on course to Venus, and then vented of any remaining fuel to serve as home for the crew for the duration of the mission. The Apollo SM engine would be used for course corrections on the way to Venus and back to <b>...</b>

I dont know if this was planned or a chance of fate, but went to Cheyenne to catch the launch of the North Platte Rail Fest 2009 special with the renamed sherman hill car to Reed Jackson (30 year UPconductor with the steam program) who passed Aug 2009 and the E9 units are in the consist also lucky me cam running when the E units fire up and the 2009 North Platte Rail Fest Special leaves the yard and backs onto the Mainline and just as the switch is thrown a USAF c-130 appears on the horizon and gives the innaugural run of the Reed Jackson a FlyBy! Hang on we also included the departure by the historic UP Cheyenne Station with Maximum Steam and a Bonus Runby at Archer in memory of Reed Jackson a 12 minute tribute
