We also didnt want it to be faux-sentimental, but more ironic and dark. We thought Jazz and punkcan we do that? Lets try! Flying Machine became the culmination of that experiment, with a hint of steampunk. More than the sound, we wanted the message to be clear—addiction is dangerous and often confusing and devastating, but it isnt the strongest force out there.
