Spyderco Military Titanium G10 Frame Lock

Hey Guys, this is my new tactical EDC. Very solid folder with very long blade. But I think for this one I will have to carry a shorter folder because I'll scare away the nice people. If you get a chance to own it, don't pass out the opportunity.

Knifemaking Tuesdays Week 12 - Textured Titanium framelock handles

I'm back with another exciting day of work. This week I got to put another cool idea to life, a very cool handle texture that I saw online. Jens Anso and Tashi Bharucha made a few Vitamin A knives with an amazing milled texture that I just had to try out, so I used that as inspiration to design something similar myself. The video shows the whole process of making a set of titanium handles on my little cnc mill. This is the second set of Ti handles that I've made and they turned out much better than the first ones from Week 09. Also it's the first framelock knife I've made, so that was cool. Next week I'll make a few more test blades to confirm tolerances and lockup, then a real blade, some standoffs and barrel nuts. At that point I can assemble it and have a completed working knife!!! So excited, it's been a long, fun and exciting road to get this far.

SAR 1911 TDT ( Take Down Tool ) custom framelock folder

This is a folder I build that has a 1911 bushing wrench integrated into the handle. Its a fairly large folder in CPM 154 blade steel, 6LA4V frame/pocket clip, coarse peel black G10, integrated back-spacer. Blade is a 4" re curve, 5.5" handle, 10" opened. All parts have a smooth stonewashed finish except the G10 which is bead blasted. The tool works very smooth and helps facilitate disassembly of your 1911. On the design side of the house the Thumbstud has "SAR 1911 TDT on a 6LA4V disk that has been anodized a bronze or dark brass color and a stainless steel stud with a dimple, it replicates a spent shell casing. Frame Lock Vs. Liner Lock Final Thoughts

I hate to beat a dead horse, but I did do some additional thinking and received a ton of really nice feed back, videos, and pictures. So I kind of wanted to wrap things up with a vid and give my final thoughts on the subject. Liner lock fail video: www.youtube.com

Kingdom Armory edition - TAD Dauntless framelock folder

*Folder description and specs borrowed from TAD Gear. - 1/7/11* I just finished these up and got them down to TAD gear, and I was excited to see they sold out in about 30minutes! I could sit here and describe them... but hey, TAD did a great job of that already... Big thanks to TAD gear www.tadgear.com for the project, and thank you to all the customers who snatched them up. Dave Rydbom - Kingdom Armory, knives - Ashland, OR www.kingdomarmory.com "Taking a pragmatic approach towards knife building, David Rydbom of Kingdom Armory balances strength and purpose in his first edition of our proprietary Dauntless. Designed to be held effectively in many different positions, the Dauntless Kingdom Armory Edition enables you to use this powerful knife for hard use or fine work. Reminiscent of a bayonet with its long blade and short swedge, the Dauntless Kingdom Armory Edition's blade has a deep belly that puts the edge closer to the work and further away from your fingers. As a result, you have more leverage when you need to choke up on the blade. The hollow ground blade has been produced from S30V steel. The bead blasted solid titanium frame has been overlayed in Ranger Green G10 and features a notched thumb ramp and an early engage detent. Adding a level of versatility, Rydbom changed the lanyard hole to fit 1-inch webbing commonly found in most military applications. Both the Kingdom Armory and Triple Aught Design logos have been chemically etched on the blade base." Material ...

Ray Laconico Slim Jasmine Framelock vs EDC Bolster Linerlock

Ray, you hit another home run with this model! Slim Jasmine Framelock Blade is 3 1/8" long, D2 steel, .135" stock, opened length is 7 1/16". Handle has titanium sides, blasted finish, black G10 backspacer. The clip and hardware originally matched the Ti but I had Ray heat treat them both for a nice contrast. EDC Bolster Linerlock Blade steel: D2, .135" stock Blade length: 3" Opened length: just under 7" Handle: Ti liners, Ti bolsters, carbon fiber scales, custom Ti pocket clip At the moment I slightly prefer the more organic/curved lines of the Jasmine to the straight lines of EDC linerlock model. My one critique is that I wish the thumb cut out on the front scale of the Jasmine was a bit larger, more like the size on the EDC model.

Framelock Genlock on FirePro

FirePro technology demonstration of genlock - the synchronization of a video output to some external reference. Both of the computers featured in this clip are receiving an external video signal. The computer on the left is actively synchronizing the video output (to its monitor, shown) in the clip, and video refresh is in time with the input signal, resulting in smooth video playback. On right hand side, the computer is not synchronizing to the input signal; this results in the video being updated (in GPU memory) before the previous frame has been displayed. This causes a horizontal disruption/break in the displayed image. It is hard to see the tearing in the non-genlocked image, in this compressed video, but in real life it is abundantly clear. Genlocking is essential in many professional video scenarios, especially in broadcast and other cases where multiple video devices (PC Workstations, Video decks, cameras etc) are operating together.
