They call February 3, 1959 "The Day the Music Died." Well, this video (while not nearly as tragic as that) marked a significant departure for classic game show fans. This video shows the final moments of the original Game Show Network and the birth of the current GSN. While it may seem insignificant to some, for fans of how Game Show Network was run, this was the beginning of the end. Today's GSN bears little resemblance to what it set out to do when it debuted. The classics have been butchered and banished to the mornings, many great game shows aren't shown anymore, and there appears to be a laissez-faire attitude about programming. It's sometimes depressing to see how far it's fallen. Sorry to seem like a downer, but it had to be said. While I hope GSN can rebound (and it's possible), it'll never be as good as it was before this changeover. Anyhow, here is the video.

Narrated by Pat Sajak, it gives a tour of GSN, Sony and talks about the revolution that was 24 hours of game shows and interactive television. This is so random but i am so glad you put this up. Folks are talking. The show won awards in the UK and so they made a US version. This was the pilot episode and the most popular. it was such a success that they got a full season from it. it is an hour long show and we were all randomly chosen. The judges and the contestants. So they wanted to see if the judges could "judge" without prejudice. They would go on to award the winner 25K. I was the winner. Myself and the other finalist were the only 2 contestants that got to actually meet the judges and when i met them, the polynesian guy had a change of heart and actually voted FOR me. The edits don't show that he came from his seat and hugged me. It was a very interesting experience. We had no idea what the judges were saying or doing or who they even were, for that matter. so i had no idea that he was racist when i went out and met the judges. It ended well though. I talked to that guy over a meal and he said that he had a change of heart.

My appearance on the game show. Run, lardass, run! Not to spoil the "secrets" of the sweep, but just some behind-the-scenes stuff for those that are interested: As contestants, prior to the taping of your episode, they let you walk through the supermarket for 10 minutes, so you can get an idea of what things cost. That's one of the reasons you never saw people really looking closely at the prices of things while they were shopping. You had to have a game plan (and I did!) The studio audience isn't nearly as big as they want you to believe. There are mirrors on both sides of the stage. With the exception of the contestants, the audience that is there are paid extras, which is why most of them are only slightly enthusiastic. They tape the inros of several episodes at once, so that once the game play begins, there is no audience. The rest of the game is done in an otherwise silent studio! So all of that extra clapping is added later. The store really was as big as a real grocery store (so to see it put together on a soundstage was pretty amazing). The food was expired, though. And some of them (like the meat) were, as you would expect, props. The winners go home with a check in the amount of their sweep, but the 2nd and 3rd place contestants only got a sweatshirt! So it really was all or nothing, in terms of winning. As for my own performance, as you could tell, at 200 pounds, I did not have the best cardio endurance of my life. In fact, prior to the sweep, I couldn't tell <b>...</b>
