Geo News-1 June,2011 (Report by Geo News) A helicopter Wednesday fell down into the River Indus at Kot Sultan in Layia, no word on casualties, Geo News reported. Police said that the crashed helicopter belonged to Punjab Rangers, which was on a routine mission. On the other hand local sources told that DG Rangers, Major General Muhammad Nawaz, two captains and one colonel were also on board the ill-fated helicopter.

Geo News-15 May,2011 (Report by Geo News) LONDON: Al Qaeda Chief Osama Bin Laden had direct contact with Taliban allies and fellow Arab fundraisers at the compound in Abbottabad, British newspaper The Telegraph claimed. According to the newspaper, British intelligence agents last week joined their US counterparts to sift through the material after repeated references to Britain were found in the haul retrieved from Osama's compound when US commandos killed him this month. An Afghan Taliban commander, who has previously provided reliable information to foreign media, disclosed to the British newspaper that he had visited bin Laden at the compound in Abbottabad. He said that the Saudi terror chief also received sporadic visits from leaders of his al-Qaeda network, Taliban allies and fellow Arab fundraisers. When the commander, who asked not to be named, last saw Osama in Abbottabad two years ago, he seemed healthy and well briefed on recent developments, but concerned about his safety and money. The Sunday Telegraph has learned that Britain was one of six countries - along with the US, Canada, Israel, Germany and Spain - identified as a target for terror strikes in the intelligence haul. Officials did not disclose specific plots or threats.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday confirmed the death of al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in an "intelligence-driven military operation" conducted by the US army, in the early hours at Abbottabad. A statement from the Foreign Office said the most wanted terrorist mastermind was killed in an operation "conducted by the US forces in accordance with declared US policy that Osama bin Ladin will be eliminated in a direct action by the US forces, wherever found in the world." The Foreign Office termed it "a major setback to terrorist organizations around the world." The statement said President Obama telephoned President Zardari on the successful US operation which resulted in killing of Osama bin Ladin. Osama bin Ladin's death illustrates the resolve of the international community including Pakistan to fight and eliminate terrorism. The Foreign Office statement said al-Qaeda had declared war on Pakistan. Scores of Al-Qaeda sponsored terrorist attacks resulted in deaths of thousands of innocent Pakistani men, women and children. Almost, 30000 Pakistani civilians lost their lives in terrorist attacks in the last few years. Gunmen armed with rockets and explosives stormed Pakistan Navy airbase, destroying two US-made two P-3C Orion aircraft surveillance aircraft and killing 12 security personnel. Geo News correspondent reported from the vicinity of PNS Mehran that four militants blew themselves up, while the security forces have arrested four other militants. Correspondent Tariq Abul Hassan also said that the arrested terrorists camouflaged themselves with dark dresses and fake cards have been recovered from them. According to official spokesman, 11 navy and one Rangers personnel embraced martyrdom taking the toll to 12. The operation against militants who attacked PNS Mehran started at 10.30 pm on Sunday. The assault was the fourth on the navy in Karachi in a month. On April 28, four naval personnel and a passing motorcyclist were killed in a bombing, two days after four other people were killed in two navy bus bombings.
