Carlo Gesualdo - Peccantem me quotidie

Gesualdo was a mannerist madrigalist of the late 16th century. His sacred works are very much in the same style as his madrigals, the former exemplified in his five voice "Peccantem me quotidie" (Sinning daily and not penitent, fear of death perturbs me), taken from the Office for the Dead and published in Naples in 1603. "Ain't Had None of That Yet," written and arranged by the incomparable Stephen Saxon, but not necessarily based on a true story (?) Where's Gesualdo? are (from left to right): Paul Kim - Tenor, Flat B (yes, I know it's flat, sorry; I'll fix it) Moorea Dickason Ragab - Mezzo, Lead Female Vocalist on Guitar Hero, Karaoke Revolution, and also featured on Rock Band and Dance Dance Revolution "Madi" Hollingsworth - Sopralto, Sharp Nine Stephen Saxon - Lead, Bass, Red Shoes, Also sings on video games Carlo Gesualdo (1566-1613) was a prince and Renaissance composer best known for his amazingly avant garde harmonies and for killing his wife and her lover. We like him only for his music, but all the "slaying" references at the beginning are for his other famous aspect. Our website is www.saxon.com/gesualdo, on which you can see our one and only group photo. Special thanks to the legendary Eric Freeman for videotaping from the audience. Come see us at the 2008 National Finals! More info at www.harmony-sweepstakes.com. Thank you for watching!

Herzog's very weird and sometimes more than a little dark film on Gesualdo. Gesualdo was very weird and more than a little dark himself. Actually he was a nasty piece of work to put it mildly, nasty bordering on evil but he wrote good music.
