Grant Imahara 501st Honorary Member Induction
Grant Imahara, formerly of ILM, was inducted into the 501st legion as an Honorary member on April 2, 2011 during San Francisco's Wondercon. Grant has worked on the Star Wars movies as a model maker, R2 builder, special effects, and even played C3P0. He can now be seen on Discovery Networks popular Mythbusters. The 501st Legion is an all volunteer Star Wars Imperial costuming group. They consist of the "Bad Guys" from the saga including Stormtroopers, Clone Troopers, Boba Fett, and Darth Vader. They can be seen in many countries around the world at Comic Book and Video Game Conventions, as well as Lucasfilm product launches, charity events, and birthday parties.

Grant Imahara VEXplorer contest entry: Butt Grabber
This is Josh LaFlamme's entry in the VEXplorer contest. Please ignore the incessant laughing, arrogant commentator, incompetent camera operator. This is my first robot. I had a lot of fun, and it was a great learning experience! Here's my original pitch for the robot. Obviously, the original vision was never realized, but whatev. "With the VEXplorer robotics kit, my goal is to make a robot that scoops up discarded cigarette butts. I came up with the idea whilst wandering around outside the school one afternoon. I observed many scrap butts and was quite appalled. I thought that it would be a great idea to dispose of them, but I also thought that it'd be awesome if I could give the disrespectful ragamuffins a little taste of karma, too. So I decided that not only will my robot clean up said cigarette butts, but it will also load them into a hopper and launch them right back at the polluting perpetrators! This will be accomplished with a mechanism that functions similarly to a pitching machine or a Hot Wheels launcher,launching butts at high speeds through a pair of rapidly spinning wheels. Grant Imahara VEXplorer Robotics Contest Entry
This is my Entry for the Grant Imahara VEXplorer Robotics Contest. The robot that I designed was the PCLSR short for The Pool Cover Leaf Skimming Robot. Enjoy! If my pool had more water in it, then the robot would have been able to push the leaves completely off of the pool cover. Note: I would have used the SolidWorks Design Suite, but the software is not compatible with Windows Vista.
