Remember Great Britain ???

Copyright © 2008 JihadWorksBothWays The good old days before the government regulators started running our lives "for our own good" !!! CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL MY FRIENDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE 40's, 50's, 60's and early 70's ! First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us and lived in houses made of asbestos.. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese, raw egg products, loads of bacon and processed meat, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes or cervical cancer. Then after that trauma, our baby cots were covered with bright coloured lead-based paints. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets or shoes, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking. As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags. We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle. Take away food was limited to fish and chips, no pizza shops, McDonalds, KFC, Subway or Nandos. Even though all the shops closed at 6.00pm and didn't open on Sundays, somehow we didn't starve to death! We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this. We could collect old drink bottles and cash them in at the corner store and buy Toffees, Gobstoppers, Bubble Gum and some bangers to blow up frogs with. We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soft drinks with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because...... WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE ...

A Brief History Of Great Britain

This is a video I made for my Politics Class instead of presenting the history of Great Britain. LYRICS: Britain, Great Britain, Empire x4 1282 English conquest of Wales... ya, actually nevermind, nobody really cares about that, England and Wales are basically the same, We form an alliance to conquer the Scots, We fought William Wallace but at York we were stopped, The Scots claimed independence, so them we'd just ignore, While Edward III would start the 100 Years War against France, We don't like them much, come to think of it, no one really does, (Britain, Great Britain) Greatest Empire in World History Ruled the globe for centuries, Like all empires, we ran out of luck, And now we're just an island in Northern Europe, We had a civil war about royalty or not, And we met a happy medium added to us, the Scots, We still fought over religion until we settled it in print, Since 1701 the Monarch must be protestant, Then we went to war with France again, At home and in America on the Plains of Abraham, Shortly after this, our colony in Boston, Revolted by dumping all our tea in the ocean, One lesson, you must take heed, Never ever mess with a British man's tea! We fought for years against America, And now we're just an island in Northern Europe, We felt like being greater, because Great Britain wasn't enough, So we forced the Irish to join us in our cause, 400000000 souls, and 10000000 square miles were added, But unfortunately for us, the Irish had had it, Because When Eire ...

Jamie Oliver talks about Jamie's Great Britain

Everyone's favourite chef, Jamie Oliver talks about his brand new book and TV show, Jamie's Great Britain. Jamie's Great Britain - Celebrating Britain's very best food Jamie Oliver grew up in one of the first true British "gastropubs", which his Mum and Dad still run today. For him, the heart and soul of real British cooking is food that puts a smile on your face. And that's what he wants to share in Jamie's Great Britain: the essence of British food, done properly. Over the years, British food culture has embraced flavours and influences from all the people who came and made Great Britain their home. The food reflects an open-minded culture as well as the country's beauty. There are over 100 of Jamie's favourite recipes: some are indisputable classics, some are his versions of the classics, some should be classics but just haven't been made famous yet and others he's made up from the great bounty of British produce. The Great British Empire Full History Video

British Empire was a worldwide system of dependencies colonies, protectorates, and other territories that over a span of three centuries came under the British government. Territorial acquisition began in the early 17th century with a group of settlements in North America and West Indian, South Asian, and African trading posts founded by private individuals and trading companies. In the 18th century the British took Gibraltar, established colonies along the Atlantic seacoast of North America and in the Caribbean Sea, and began to add territory in India. With its victory in the French and Indian War (1763), the empire secured Canada and the eastern Mississippi Valley and gained supremacy in India. From the late 18th century it began to build power in Malaya and acquired the Cape of Good Hope, Ceylon and Malta. The British settled Australia in 1788 and subsequently New Zealand. Aden was secured in 1839, and Hong Kong in 1841. Britain went on to control the Suez Canal (1875-1956). In the 19th-century European partition of Africa, Britain acquired Nigeria, Egypt, the territories that would become British East Africa, and part of what would become the Union (later Republic) of South Africa. After World War I, Britain secured mandates to German East Africa, part of the Cameroons, part of Togo, German South-West Africa, Mesopotamia, Palestine, and part of the German Pacific islands. Britain gradually evolved a system of self-government for some colonies after the US gained ...
