Green, Beautiful & in Control - Not Just an Eco House w/ Sustainable Architecture

www.control4.com - We're here in Silicon Valley, home to countless Hi-Tech inventions, so it's no surprise that we found a house here that is so cutting edge, so environmentally friendly that some people are calling it, "The World's Greenest Home"... and wouldn't you know it, a Control4 system keeps the whole house humming. Check it out! Linda Yates (Home Owner) - "This is actually the property that I grew up on. My parents bought the property in 1967 so we've been here ever since. We said, 'we really want to build the most sustainable, the most regenerative house in America.' So it's really just four basic materials... it's glass, it's steel, it's wood and it's stone. On the floor, 150-year-old barn wood... stone that wasn't actually good enough for somebody else but our guys were so into it that they went and took it out of the bone pile. The whole design of the house with all the roofs and the steel roof is to be able to catch all the rainwater and storm water and then reuse it. We're putting more green energy back on the grid than we are using. It's definitely the greenest custom home in America." "There's 3 myths we were trying to bust with green building: 1. Was that it was ugly... you had to build a concrete box with no windows. 2. That it was twice as expensive. 3. That you had to completely fundamentally change your lifestyle." ... and those are myths that we have to bust. The technology plays a big role in being able to do that." Story of a Green Building

Sustainable design requires a team approach. This includes architects, construction crew, engineers, developers and an engaged client. Over the last 12 months, staff at the National Building Museum documented a "green team" that created PNC Place, a building one block away from the White House that is aiming for Platinum LEED certification. Join curator Susan Piedmont-Palladino as she interviews a cast of characters that made this sustainable idea a reality.

Green Building in Indianapolis - Creating a Sustainable Future

The City's Office of Sustainability, in partnership with WCTY Channel 16, is proud to announce the City's first green building documentary. The film is titled "Green Building in Indianapolis: Creating a Sustainable Future" and is hosted by green living expert Sara Snow. The approximately 54-minute documentary features many of Indianapolis' green building projects. The film explains the components of green buildings, the strategies used to ensure optimal environmental benefits and cost savings, and the importance of partnerships in the design and construction process. The purpose of the documentary is to inform Indianapolis residents about the concept of green building, highlight the City's leaders in sustainable building projects, and provide a resource for more detailed information on best practices by featuring The Nature Conservancy's new Headquarters building. The Efroymson Conservation Center is seeking LEED Platinum certification. This documentary project began as a partnership between the Office of Sustainability and The Nature Conservancy. In early 2009, as The Nature Conservancy was preparing to break ground on the construction of their new headquarters buildings, the Office of Sustainability approached WCTY Channel 16 and The Nature Conservancy with the idea to video-document the construction process. This idea sparked the interest of The Nature Conservancy and Channel 16 as an opportunity to "tell the story" of green buildings: What is a green building? What ...

März 2012 in Berlin gefragt. Und wir wollten von ihm wissen, ob sich Gebäudezertifikate auf die Immobilenbewertung und -Finanzierung auswirken? Entstanden ist ein aufschlussreiches Interview.
