If you're not put off by the $500 price tag and dig the MP5 sub-machine gun then cool GSG-5 is for you. It is a quality duplication of the look, feel, heft, and mode of operation of the MP5 SD (of sorts). It's now lightweight at almost 7 lbs but it duplicates it's original's weight. The pistol version, mimicking the MP5 PDW, is a bit lighter and features a much shorter barrel, flash hider, and no stock. Upsides to both GSGs include a light double-action type trigger, quality construction, reliability, accuracy, a 20 round well-made magazines, and availability of factory accessories. While I don't have trigger time on the GSG, it is reported to be a high quality and reliable gun that is super fun. Downsides, at least for me, are the heavier weight, the fixed stock which tends to loosen under fire, and the expense. For my money I think a tricked out 10/22 is very hard to beat. But these are currently selling extremely well and are hard to find. If you want one, get it now before it's made illegal but some ridiculous and worthless law. *** This example was provided by the excellent ImpactGuns.com store, one of the few internet suppliers of the gun. This is a great vid of my new GSG-5 in action. I set up a plastic oil can filled with water at 35 yards and shot a full 25 shot mag of .22LR Winchester HV with the camera set up next to the impact site. For a small weapon, the GSG-5 is wicked accurate, even from the stock iron sights. The mods coming for this gun are a collapsible MP5 stock, tac forend with flashlight/laser combo, and forend grip. I may add an inexpensive red dot for easier targeting. Do yourself a favor--if you're on the fence with this gun, GO BUY ONE. I guarantee it's the most fun you'll have with that $450 bones you have stuffed under your mattress.

GSG-5 is a semi-automatic rimfire rifle chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge. It is built by German Sport Guns GmbH, an airsoft wholesaler located in Ense-Höingen, Germany. It was unveiled at the IWA & Outdoor Classics trade show in March 2007 following the legalization of previously forbidden military-style weapons in Germany.[citation needed] This rifle externally resembles the Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine gun, some of the parts are interchangeable, for example the stock, handguard, pins, and sights[1]. German Sport Guns produces its own line of accessories, including retractable stocks and railed handguards. Many airsoft MP5 accessories may also be used on the GSG-5. Magazines for the GSG-5 are available in 2-round, 10-round, 15-round, and 22-round configurations. The GSG-5 utilizes the H&K style drum sight that is adjustable for windage. A short vid of some GSG-5 rapid fire testing I did at Red Castle Gun Club. I used a mix of ammo, from Winchester to CCI to Remington, all copper plated. I achieved the best results with factory mags and CCI Minimag .22LR. I also function tested 2 Promag GSG-5 magazines, both of which fed CCI's perfectly, but experienced FTF's on the remaining ammo choices, possibly due to the weaker follower spring. This GSG-5 carbine is outfitted with the Rrages.com screw upgrade and HK91 forend, a standard GSG collapsible stock, and a custom fitted ICS SEF lower.

This suppressor is exclusively made for the GSG5-SD, for an even better sound reduction Hagelberg Arms recommend the barrel to be perforated. If this is done only to the last 100-150 milimeters of the barrel, there will only be a slightly reduction on the bullets speed. If more of the barrel gets perforated the bulletspeed will devrease further. When this suppressor gets in production, it will be delivered as black anodized. The tube can be delivered as knurled, but this will increase the price. Most of these suppressors tubes will be glassblasted and black anodized.

We can all think of examples of precision German engineering Mercedes-Benz, the Audobahn, the Porsche, the diesel engine, and Heckler & Koch firearms. The GSG-5 .22 pistol is a replica of the famous HK MP-5, but is chambered in the inexpensive-to-shoot .22lr. Solid and very well made. That's what you feel when you hold it in your hands. The GSG-5 will shoot roughly three inch groups at distances from 25 to 100 yards. Let it suffice to say that you can hit coke can sized objects without any trouble, and have a hell of a good time doing it. The best reaction is on the faces of others when you pull this little baby out of your bag at the range. They just have to come over and check it out. Often, they end up buying one too. Oh, and YES! You can perform the famous "HK Slap", that you see in action movies, where you lock the bolt back, insert a mag, and then slap the charging handle downward so that it snaps crisply forward. Also, you don't have to have a lot of money to shoot it, since .22 is one of the cheapest rounds available. Buy a couple bricks, and have an awesome time with an awesome little gun! Your buddies won't be able to get their minds around how COOL this little gun is!

American Tactical Imports and German Sports Guns made it possible to have this amazing toy, yep! it is not exactly an MP5 but if anything comes close to the design and function, I guess this is it. Surprisingly accurate and powerfull, the standard .22 LR High Velocity bullets still have enough power to knock down plates pass 50 yards. The factory installed sights were accurate and did not require any additional adjustment. Flawless functionality, no malfunctions with the exception of a bullet related misfire. Something we can expect using mass produced .22 LRs. This is a 2nd Generation version but the ejector plate is not yet rivited for some reason, it can be sent back for repair at no cost but I'll wait and play with the gun for a while since it is doing what it is designed to do. The magazines are probably the cause of all problems so I tuned it a little to make sure that it slides up and down. I like it so much than I already have plans to buy another version for the same price... GSG 5 SD!

This is a short video of how I converted my Factory GSG-5 10 round magazine to accept 22 rounds of ammo. The total time to complete this took me less time than it takes to watch the video. The only tools needed are the Screwdriver that comes with your GSG-5 and an allen wrench. The mag has good spring tension but may need a shim plate to adjust but it can be made from left over parts.

This is my first time to the range with this rifle and I can't say enough good things about it so far. It's the lightweight model (LW) and is post HK lawsuit ie: a 522. I converted it from a GSG-522 SD to a GSG-5 SD. You can see my other video on the conversion itself if you are interested in that. Out of about 350 rounds today, I had one FTF(remington subsonic) and one stovepipe/FTE(federal auto-match, which i fired over 100 of). But the gun just absolutely ATE Remington Golden Bullets, Blazer, CCi Min-Mags as well as subsonic Rem and the auto match by Federal for the most part! Feel free to comment!
