Most expensive ever Guinness advert features large-scale domino game. Directed by Nicolai Fuglsig of Sony Bravia 'Balls' fame, it is a celebration of community. The advert was shot on location in a remote side village called Iruya, in the Salta region of northern Argentina, with a population of around 1000 people. Toppling items included: 6000 dominoes, 10000 books, 400 tyres, 75 mirrors, 50 fridges, 45 wardrobes and 6 cars. (

Tata Güines Tata Güines - "El Fity" (born Federico Aristides Soto y Alejoà June 30, 1930, died February 4, 2008) was a Cuban percussionist on the tumbadora, or conga drum, as well as a composer. He was important in the first generation of Afro-Cuban jazz... Tata was born in Güines, a poor town east of Havana in Matanzas province of Cuba.. He became famous for playing the conga, by the 1950s he was working with such top Cuban musician as Arsenio Rodriguez, Chano Pozo, Bebo Valdes and Israel Lopez.... In the late 1950s he formed a band with the pianist Frank Emilio Flynn, forming a new band, Quinteto Instrumental de Musica Moderna, later known as Los Amigos. Güines moved to New York City in 1957, playing there with great jazz players such as Dizzy Gillespie, Maynard Ferguson, and Miles Davis at Birdland. As a percussionist, he performed with Josephine Baker and Frank Sinatra.... He had a musical career that lasted six decades that helped popularize Afro-Cuban rhythms. Rest in Peace Maestro...

THE CUBAN MASTERS ENSEMBLE Presents Del Pasado Al Presente / The Past Meets the Present cd available at cdbaby.com Members of the The Cuban Masters Ensemble feature the song, "A Comer Con Manteca: Homenaje a Tata Güines" at the Fiesta de Tambor celebration held every year in Cuba. The Cuban Masters Ensemble brings together some of Cubas finest musicians and singers, drawn from many different musical fields and performing eleven new original tunes written by Aaron Singer in collaboration with Orlando Pérez Montero (Orquesta Aragón), Jormán Almagro (Pachito Alonso), Ernesto El Gato Gatell (Rumberos de Cuba) , Bobby Carcassés, Rafael Lay Jr., and Emilio Morales .The featured singers include Lázaro Galarraga ,Ernesto Bacallao ,Tamayo, Sixto Llorente (El Indio) ,Pedro Lugo Martínez (El Nene), Ariel Monterecy ,Lisset Caro Farquenson and the abovementioned El Gato. All of the tunes recorded here reflect a wide variety of Cubas rich and varied musical styles . There is a danzón dedicated to Ochún ,the Afro-Cuban goddess of love and sensuality, performed by current members of Orquesta Aragón (under the direction of Rafael Lay Jr.) and sung by the great Cuban master Lázaro Galarraga. A Comer Con Manteca is a rumba written in memory of Tata Güines, the late great and irreplaceable percussionist . In order to pay proper tribute to Tata ,the rumba was recorded live and performed by Muñequitos de Matanzas legendary percussionists _Jesús Alfonso (who recently passed away) and Freddie <b>...</b>

El legendario percusionista cubano Tata Güines, que sentó pautas en la música popular, falleció hoy en La Habana a los 77 años. Aunque grabó fuera de Cuba, (con Fruco y sus Tesos de Colombia por ejemplo) nunca abandonó la Isla. El conguero cubano Arístides Soto, más conocido como Tata Güines, falleció a los 77 años en un hospital de La Habana víctima de una afección renal. El percusionista será enterrado en su localidad natal, Güines, al sur de La Habana, ciudad en la que comenzó su carrera hace más de sesenta años. Federico Arístides Soto Alejo nació el 18 de julio de 1930, en el seno de una familia de músicos. Fue autodidacta y, según él mismo decía, se había inspirado en el arte del percusionista Chano Pozo para crear su propio estilo al interpretar la tumbadora. Tata tocó con todo tipo de agrupaciones, desde las charangas como la de José Fajardo, hasta las big bands como la de Chico OFarrill. Sin embargo, sus mayores reconocimientos se debieron a sus solos salpicados de virtuosidad, en especial en las descargas de Cachao a mediados de los cincuenta. Perteneciente a la generación dorada de los congueros cubanos (junto a Armando Peraza, Mongo Santamaría, Patato Valdés, Francisco Aguabella y Cándido Camero), fue el único que nunca abandonó la isla a pesar de grabar varias veces en el exterior (junto a Fruko y sus Tesos en Colombia, por ejemplo). **************************************************** Federico Arístides Soto, conocido por su nombre artístico de Tata Güines <b>...</b>
