GZA on Q TV

www.cbc.ca The rapper GZA of the legendary Wu Tang Clan from Staten Island came to wide attention with "Enter the Wu Tang Clan (36 Chambers)".... an album considered one of the greatest hip hop records of all time. It was an exploration of the grime and glory of street life -- and a look at the human condition... messy, triumphant, and honest. GZA, aka The Genius, created lyrics that wove through a whole sea of references...including 1930s American literature, jazz, chess, philosophy, crime, and martial arts. The album sealed his place as one of rap music's most intricate and able lyricists...and performers. In addition to his work with the Wu Tang Clan, GZA made solo albums. Liquid Swords went platinum: the beats are menacing and hypnotic, the production is atmospheric, and the lyrical content is typically brainy and complex. Last year GZA released his 5th solo record, Pro Tools. He's currently touring it all over the world -- though in his performances, he's been paying tribute to the classic Liquid Swords. Gary Grice, aka GZA, aka The Genius, is in Canada for the NxNe music festival and joined Studio Q as part of their live show from the CBC's Glenn Gould Studio special.

JMT Ft. GZA/Genius On the Eve of War From Legacy of Blood Lyrics: Vinnie Paz This is raw, all across the board, Liquid Sword Chamber If it's coming from my jaw, then it's pure anger Heavy metal rap, with a 44 banger We can settle that, let the mic cord hang ya I pay homage to the best of them, like Christopher Wallace And bring drama to the rest of 'em, with biscuits from coppers I'm with the Lord-Justice, and we raw gritty Picture hell, Illadel to New York City I brought a four with me, we can capture the ring And now we more merciless than the Statue of Ming And ya'll are more purposeless than a pacifist king You gonna die, like a brawl with a gat in the Bing It's a passionate thing, the way we make classics Genuine brilliance or innate madness Yeah, we all spin on the same axis And this chrome thing here leave your frame backless The police always trying to aim flame at us So I don't mind when a pig brain splatters I don't mind that we all gonna die soon I return to the silence of God's tomb Chorus There is no escaping once my blade start scraping My sword indeed make more niggaz bleed Wannabe Mc's is shaken So swift naked eye couldn't record the speed GZA Imagine a rhyme in it's prime from off the baseline Skyscraper a vertical support the hang time Evidence that was left at the scene of the crime Trace back to a few from outta group of nine Who performed well regardless to the price of the ticket Off or on stage whatever still kickin' With the footwork of Freddy Adu ...

From 1995 Album: "Liquid Swords"..... GZA's Myspace: www.myspace.com Get GZA's Music: www.amazon.com & itunes.apple.com Gary Grice (born 22 August 1966), better known by his stage name GZA (pronounced /ˈdʒɪzə/) and The Genius, is an American hip hop artist best known as a founding member of the seminal hip hop group the Wu-Tang Clan and for his inclusion on their group albums, his groupmates' solo releases and a successful solo career. Gary Genius developed an interest in hip-hop by attending block parties as a child in the late '70s. He formed a three-man group with his cousins, who would later be known as RZA and Ol' Dirty Bastard. The group, All in Together Now, saw the three rapping and DJing, switching off names and performing local shows; since they lived in different boroughs, RZA and Dirty would travel out to Staten Island to meet up with their cousin, after which the three would travel across NYC and challenge other MCs to battles. After some years of this, GZA was signed to Cold Chillin' Records as a solo artist under the name The Genius. He put together an album called Words from the Genius, produced mostly by Easy Mo Bee, but after it failed to sell—and his rocky experience on tour—Grice became fed up and asked for release from the label. After joining the Wu-Tang Clan, a group of nine which included himself, RZA and ODB, GZA boasted some high-profile appearances on the group's debut album, Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers, including a solo track, "Clan in da ...

GZA Genius - 101 Barz (lyrics)

GZA Genius - 101 Barz met keiharde lyrics! Beat is 'Older gods" van Wu Tang Clan's Forever Album. Lyrics afkomstig van de track 'Alphabets' van GZA's Pro Tools Album. All I need is a beat with a continuous loop, And a live vibe that I hypnotize like the flute, Along with something that's Rugged by nature, like the forest Composed like a symphony, without a chorus, A place with the path and trail you follow, But the wood where you drove your nail through too hollow Far from reality with a slim chance of getting back, Even if you narrowly escape the hidden traps, Nothing but the driven raps, written in my notebook, Inspired by the cap and gown that's on the coat hook, Prepare for the chemical rush, Something new to cause your hart to race, but it's tangible to touch! Associate with those, who are consumed with beats, Produce fire, then they melt the room with heat, You know my ink lay all over the sheets, Let us gather around to form words, Every time they meet, it's just butter for the popcorn, Dip for the chips, ego for your trips, some scripts for you to flip, Correction for errors, mishaps and mistakes, Fly raps for beats and pop 'n lock for breaks, A legend in my own lifetime for one rhyme Specially designed and hook the bottom line, Shines like a precious jewel, And it's cut up in the workshop specialized handcrafted tools, Can't buy this hardware so don't swipe your card there Better yet fold your hand, you holding the odd pair, One hit wonders get a little shine ...

Liquid Swords is the second solo studio album by American rapper and Wu-Tang Clan-member GZA, released November 7, 1995 on Geffen Records. It is considered to be one of the best Wu-Tang Clan solo albums along with Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx.... The album went gold and was critically acclaimed for its lyrically complex and musically hypnotic style. The Chicago Tribune cited Liquid Swords as "one of the most substantial lyrical journeys in hip-hop history". In 1998, The Source magazine selected the album as one of its 100 Best Rap Albums.
