It is super easy to do, and uses the basic French Braiding technique with a small twist to the stranding. When you are done with the braid, you simply grab the center part of the braid about two inches down and pull it up on top of the ponytail and the whole braid literally "pops" out into this super cute 3D braid! Celebrity Hairdresser Stuart Phillips and top colourist Lara Clark creates a fantastic new haircut and colour on model Lisa. On June 27th 2011, Stuart Philips and Vibe International Models held a casting together at the Stuart Phillips salon in London to find the perfect model for Stuart's new hair video and also to be signed up to Vibe International Model Agency. In order to find the perfect model Stuart first had to look at each models bone structure, face shape and body type etc, this is very important when there's going to be a radical change, height and confidence was also an important factor, as she would be filmed showing off her new hairstyle walking outside in the streets. Stuart looked for a potential model with the possibility of improving her looks and sex appeal even more, this doesn't work for all models because sometimes cutting their long hair short can have an adverse effect. Lisa Chenneour was one of the favourites to receive the job out of the 15 models present, she seemed to fit this criteria perfectly. After watching how Lisa walked as if she was on a catwalk, the decision was made to chose her for the Stuart Phillips hair video and to be signed up to Vibe International Models. Lisa was about to undergo a massive re-style, from long to a short, choppy/funky haircut and a radical colour change, from black to a fiery red/copper. One of my very favorite braid hairstyles, is a small added flair to a simple braid... what everyone is calling a simple Messy Braid. This is the perfect second day hairstyle {after curls the day prior} for a quick rush out the door. I've received so many emails asking for this tutorial. I even had one fan ask over 10 friends to all email within a few hours each asking for this style! Now, that is determination! It definitely got my attention and I decided to make this our next tutorial. Items Needed Brush, comb, ponytail holder, hairspray {if desired} Time required: 2 minutes Steps: 1. Begin with dry slightly messy or curly hair. {You can use a flat iron or wand to add a little curl to the top layer if needed}. 2. Pull all hair loosely to one side over your shoulder. 3. Braid the hair using the regular braiding method. 4. Tug on the elbows of the braid to loosen/flatten and soften the braid. 5. Curl any loose pieces of hair to frame your face.
