Teddy Bear Hamster Gets A Bigger Cage TOBY'S NEW CRIB
So, I was bored and wanted to give toby a bigger cage. I used an old bird cage, zipties, other parts of old bird cages and voila, he's now officially the most 'spoiled with love' Teddy Bear Hamster in Florida. So many people just love him, and I wanted to show off him and his new 'crib' .

Homemade Hamster Cage
A hamster cage I built for my 4 robo hamsters tiddles tiddles2 terrance and cat. Abit bored of the standard cages that I have had in the past decided to build my own with my own ideas. The cage took about 6 weeks to build when I got chance, and cost no more than £80 which I think is well worth it compared to what you pay for cages. Included are a tunnel at the front a huge spiral staircase, a burrow basement, a see saw into a seperate compartment a maze and lots more. The most difficult thing to build was the maze and the mesh doors and they also took the longest. My main concerns with it were that the robos could escape, the cleaning of it and the smell. They have been living in it now for 6months and no escapes. I coated the main floors and sides with clear perspex so that the wood could not become damp and smell and this has worked very well. And the cage only takes about half an hour to clean as all the shelves slide out. I hope you enjoyed watching the video, please rate and let me know what you think :)

How To Clean A Hamster Cage
A guide to clean a hamster cage. Instructions: Get something to put your hamster in, eg. a hamster ball or another cage. Take a bin-bag and place the dirty shavings into the bag. Wipe away any left over dirty shavings that are stuck onto the tray base. Add clean wood shavings to the tray. Wipe your hamsters' toys, wheel, potty tray, the stem of water bottle, food bowl and house. Re-attach everything back together. Replace the dirty water with new fresh water and bin the old hamster food and add new hamster food. Place your hamster into your clean hamster cage and watch him explore his fresh, clean cage.

Rowdy (his mom) is an escape artist as well and has figured out how to open her cage door, chew through the hamster ball lid that she runs in, and has escaped from just about any other product we have wasted money on. UPDATE... Sad to say but both Frosty and Angel have passed away this was quite awhile ago they lived to be around 2 years (I can't remember sorry) I missed them both and couldn't bring myself to 'replace' them with new robos I sold their entire set up to some little girls who wanted their first hammy. Since then I have gotten a crittertrail 3 and a lone spoiled rotten Syrian named Lilu. I might post a vid of her doing her cute things but I'm not sure when I'll be up to it. No if your not lazy What types of small animals can it hold? I recently adopted a Syrian that was living in two modular cages with tubes. It looked like he had to squeeze through the tubes to get between cages. His food and water in one cage, and up a tube into a compartment was his favorite sleeping spot. I was frightened he was going to get stuck. As soon as I placed him inside a bin cage with a proper sized wheel, his activity level improved. He now gets plenty of exercise, and we both can sleep peacefully knowing he is able to safely reach his food and water. Modular cages, also known as tube cages, are the types of cages readily available at stores. They are brightly colored, and connected together with tubes. The price ranges anywhere from $20 to $50 or more for the cage alone. Unless you are connecting multiple cages together, the space they provide your hamster is simply not enough. Syrian hamsters often have a hard time fitting through the tubes as they reach adulthood. While these products have many fun accessories, they are best suited for dwarf hamsters. Bin cages are simple "Do-It-Yourself" hamster cages made from plastic storage bins. You are able to provide your hamster with continuous floor space for a much cheaper cost using common household items. The larger the bin, the happier most hamsters will be. Bin cages allow you plenty of freedom to add your own personal touches to your hamsters home, such as multiple levels, or different environments.
