Thought I'd have a go at a hand-drawn rotoscope style animation. Rotoscoping is an animation technique in which animators trace over live-action film movement, frame by frame. There are 175 separate drawings/frames in this. ~UMB friends, gimme your thumbs and comments please...Story, sketch, coloring, animation, editing, all done by myself. Music by Hitomi Takahashi. Made this for my 2D Digital Animation final project. Fan made MV of "Aozora no Namida" (OST Blood+), sung by Hitomi Takahashi. It's a story about a girl who is having a dream. "Aozora no Namida" means Tears of Blue Sky, and that's what the animation is all about. I drew every frame in Adobe Photoshop (pen tablet made it easy). Using Adobe Flash to do the motion, and Ulead Video Studio for editing. The story itself is a bit philosophical. Sometimes we risk our lives to reach what we believe is important. And sometimes we just get lucky when it comes to our hands. But nothing last forever. Somewhere along the way, the precious one could vanish out of the blue. Leaving you nothing but sadness. You wish for the "Tears of Blue Sky" that could wash away your pain and misery. When you awaken from that long dream, you'll realize that there are billions of stars in the sky. And you'll know that you still have another chance to have the real happiness...in the real life. Released in Japan last October, Solatorobo (literally translated "sky and robot") takes place in the Shepherd Republic, a series of floating islands that are populated by two distinct races of anthropomorphic dog- and cat-people. While very human-like in their nature, both of these races have evolved to use specially-built robot mechs (or Robos) in their everyday lives. In the game, players follow the story of the dog-like Red Savarin, a young adventurer and hunter who has set off with his Robo companion Dahak on a quest to retrieve a stolen file of the utmost importance, only to be thrown into an altogether deeper adventure along the way. As the story of Solatorobo: Red the Hunter develops further, Red and Dahak will travel throughout the Shepherd Republic, meeting new characters along the way and uncovering the truth behind a mystical artifact he has discovered. Currently in production, Solatorobo: Red the Hunter will be released this fall in North America by XSEED Games for Nintendo DS. XSEED Games will release more product information in the coming months.

The Main Character represents the Ego. The little red-headed people going in and out of the mouth are words, or the sperms of ideas which are fertilized in the brain as thoughts.

November 2011's 11 Second Club entry. I spent about three days on this (not counting thinking about it beforehand) and it turned out alright. Obviously unfinished, but it was good practice. It's my hope that some things I learned from this one will improve future animations. After all, that's why you do this sort of thing!

Finally after 10 months of working everyday, World of Color is out! And the Surprise is....My first hand drawn animation video! The video is called "World of Color" which is the song from DisneyLand's new water show by the same name. My video also features "Part of Your World", "Colors of the Wind", "Just Around the River bend", "Beauty and the Beast" and "Hellfire". The video is 6:06 minutes and took 1230 hand drawn pictures. I drew each one with pencil and paper and then colored each drawing as well. I also made over 100 backgrounds for the video. This video is: - My First Traditionally Animated Movie - My First Movie of 2011 - My Most Expensive Movie ($600) - Longest Time I worked on a video (10 months) I got the idea in July 2010 while making "Hercules". I tried over 10 techniques to get the drawings to become animated and finally found one that worked. I have never read any books or had training in animation, so I wasn't sure what I was doing or how it would come out, but I think I did pretty good! :D For all who want to know how I made this video, unfortunatley I am not giving out that information. I tried over 9 techniques for the video and finally found one that works. I had to test things out and try new things, and to be an animator, that's what you need to do! I believe if you want to make your own animated movie, you should find a way that works for you! If you are not looking to animate your own movie and just want to know how I did it, it's Magic! ;) I hope <b>...</b>

My 2nd Hand-Drawn Animation video is here! After the success and positive responses to my "World of Color" hand drawn video from May 2011, I decided to make another. I started work in July (Just 2 months after the completion of World of Color) on Charlie Brown. I edited the audio, planned out of the video and started drawing! The video took over 500 drawings (which is small compared to the 2000 of World of Color) but it was still a lot of work! The video features songs from the 1960s classic including "Linus and Lucy", "Skating", "O Tannenbaum", "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" and "Christmas Time is Here". I own this video. -- Not long ago, in the animation class, my teacher asked us if we were interested to practice doing some hand-drawn animation to combine with a computer-made background. I was so interested, I began doing a simple animation in my own Jimenitoon style, based on my character Micro-Boy. I drew every action, frame by frame. Unfortunately, I ran out of the paper I was using, so I didn't finish the animation. Still, it came out successfully! -- Next, I rendered the photos into a bunch of PNG images (somehow, the background came out black). Then, my teacher combined all the images into a full video. Next, he decided to add a background to test out what the animation would look like. He removed the black background and added the Dallas city. -- Note that this is my FIRST time doing a hand-drawn animation and it's not completely finished. A Hand drawn animation short I did recently. 705 images required for this 3 min flick. this is my tribute to master animators like Richard Williams, Hayao Miyazaki, Akira Toriyama, Matt Groening and to the late Bruce Lee and Charlie Chaplin. I just had it screened in front of some directors/producers at this Animation event (Wanimate's Show off Your Shorts) and they liked it, Impressed even. I am humbled by it. But the credit goes to Richard William's The Animation Survival Kit Book coz I studied everything from there. gimme feedbacks, critiques, wateva. Hope you enjoy it. Been weeks working on this, a pain in the ass drawing all 700 images by yourself. but Hey, I finished it in time for the event (15/09/2011). so it's all worth it. I used 'Lover's carvings' by Bibio for a soundtrack. it has this nostalgic feel to the tune, Great music.

Animation project for an intro class. I could've probably gotten away with animating a ball bouncing around for 30 seconds, but. Eh. This is my first attempt at making an animation with more than 10 frames. Ideas stolen from Bleach, music is Souzetsu na Shitou from the Claymore soundtrack, sound effects swiped from the City of Heroes/City of Villains sound databases, and yes, there are a couple of clips where I heavily referenced clips from Bleach (the Hirako vs. Grimmjow fight especially). Eh. I've never done an animation before. The dialogue was translated by my teacher, who is Japanese, so I trust that it's accurate.
