Have a very happy Rosh HaShana, from Victoria's Voice, vicsvoice.com ------------------- Lyrics ------------------- Rosh Hashana, Rosh Hashana, here it comes. With the apples and the honey and the challah crumbs. There's the tsimmes and the brisket and a lot of wine. Yeah, we're eating and we're smiling, and we're feeling fine. Big "Le Chaim" from my uncle, and we guzzle down the schnapps. Hey, this stuff tastes pretty good! And I'm pulling out the stops. My cousin says, "Hey boozey gal, you gonna get so shikker, Just like our uncle Irvin does," he tells me with a snicker. My sister, she is single, and she walks into the room. And my aunt says, "Baby, when you gonna find yourself a groom?" My grandma's saying "Sweetie, wipe the shmutz right off your face." And the baby's throwing honey cake all over the whole place. Rosh HaShana, yo! Have a Happy New Year... My father says a drasha, and my mom starts to snore. And my grandpa says that that's because my dad's a real big bore. The fish head's staring at me, like we're all kind of odd. But today is Rosh HaShana, and we give our thanks to Gd. Rosh Hashana with the family, hey what can I say? There's a lesson here we ALL can learn, from this special day If your family makes each other mad each time you're together, You can see despite this fact, you all still love each other. Now how d'you think you'd learn this, if you weren't forced together, For endless meals and prayers and stuff on each Rosh HaShana? Yeah, sure it may be ...

In Hebrew, these constitute the 3 Ts: Teshuva, Tefilah and Tzedaka. Teshuva (repentance) a central theme of the High Holidays, means more than just saying "sorry." Teshuva, means recognizing one's errors and making an effort not to repeat them. In many ways, teshuva is a private act because one must be introspective to recognize one's own mistakes. Tefilah (prayer) is the acknowledgment of God as the King and Ruler of the universe. Tefilah is almost private, but not quite. It is a conversation between the person and God. Tzedaka (charity) is a critical step necessary to reverse an evil decree simply because it constitutes an action. The performance of this mitzvah affects the person ...

Shana tova - Shofar FlashMob from Art Kibbutz

Shana tova - Happy New Year from Art Kibbutz NYC Enjoy Art Kibbutz NYC's amazing, free Rosh Hashana greeting card wishing you Shana Tova / a Happy New Year featuring our Shofar FlashMob participants worldwide. 17 cities worldwide participated - Digital Rosh Hashana Card Is Fashioned from Footage - creating the glorious cacophony envisioned by its founders...and then some. From the United States to Europe to Israel and beyond established and emerging artists gathered together with creative volunteers in the week before Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, to sound the Shofar just for you in places both urban and rural, traditional and off-the-beaten-track. Art Kibbutz's central NYC Shofar FlashMob proved so successful that it was necessary to create two consecutive blowings at the Lincoln Center location for eager latecomers already wearing their tuxedos. The experimental jazzy flashmob at the JCC in Manhattan and the Jerusalem Shofar FlashMob both featured Rav Abraham Isaac HaCohen Kook's Shofar poem, performed by Rabbi Yitzhak Marmorstein, Jake Marmer, Rabbi Greg Wall and Jordan Hirsch. At Art Kibbutz's public art project there was sound, there was spirit, there was community but there was so much more. The sight of people gathering to sound the ancient ram's horn stopped passers-by in their tracks, fulfilling the Shofar's truest functions: creating energy, awareness and intentional community. In addition to New York City, footage from Shofar FlashMobs in Jerusalem (Israel ...

Rosh Hashana - Jewish New Year (Rap Poetry Hip Hop Acapella)

All raps, poems, songs etc available at: tinyurl.com According to Kabbalah (the Jewish mystical tradition), Rosh Hashana, the beginning of the new year, is the day that all of existence, was conceived, in both senses of the word. It is also a day of 'Din', usually crudely translated as 'judgement', but a more full appreciation of Din, and the accompanying concept of Zechirah (mindfulness), suggests that Rosha Hashana is really about an attuned sensitivity to the interconnectedness of all Creation. And so, Rosh Hashana is a day when we acknowledge the true Oneness of all things, and we play our part in restoring the Universe to its rightful state, which is a crucial part of our process of Teshuvah - re-turning to our own truest and highest and deepest selves. Hence, according to the traditional liturgy, Rosh Hashana is also a day of Malchut (Sovereignty) when we 'crown' the Creator as Sovereign over all existence. And so, we blow the Shofar (the ram's horn) to declare the true nature of all being - one, unified, entity, and also to remind ourselves of reality, to awaken ourselves to our true potential. Rosh Hashana literally means 'the head of the year', and it is in many senses like a seed, a microcosm from which our year will grow. May we all be blessed to enjoy this opportunity to question, refine and to re-focus on our highest, deepest goals for life, whatever they may be. Happy New Year Love Daniel PS The ideas espoused in this video are based largely on my imperfect ...

Hin'ni, for Rosh HaShana

This is the prayer that the cantor (chazzan) sings on behalf of the congregation, while facing the ark, to start the evening service of Rosh HaShana. Rabbi Danny Young helped me with the general translation, and I later made some changes to help the flow of the language. Israel Alter was the composer, and Stephen Richards the arranger. I made several changes to the music to accomodate my own personal preferences. This is one of the most profound of all Hebrew prayers for the High Holy Days. The text herein is only part of the entire prayer.

Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur & Sukkot - a physical & spiritual runaround

Rabbi Jeremy Lawrence examines themes of Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur and also Sukkot. The season is rich with Jewish festivals. On Rosh Hashana, we celebrate God as King in our world. On Yom Kippur, we envisage ourselves elevated and accountable before Him. The Sukkah combines both elements; a fragile physical dwelling, open and exposed so that we are all the more aware of our dependence on God's spiritual protection. A Shana Tova U'Gemar Chatima Tova to all family and friends. A year of blessing and peace to all Israel.

Translation of Avigail Cohen's song...In Diaspora lands and the Land of Israel, in Toronto and Tel Aviv, Algonquin Park and the Galil, the sun is setting on the past Jewish year 5771.
