The Cloud-Grant University: When Higher Education Meets High Tech A native of upstate NY, Stenger was appointed president at Binghamton University in Nov. 2011. Prior to that he served as interim provost at the University at Buffalo, where he had been dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences since 2006. He is a chemical engineer by training, earned his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Cornell University in 1979 and his doctorate in the same discipline from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1983.
