The History of the ABA Part 1-6
This is a series of Videos taken from the HBO Documentary "Long Shots: The Life and Times of the American Basketball Association" The hour-long documentary features rarely seen ABA team films, home videos, and footage from local television stations. The feature also contains numerous interviews with ABA players, coaches, and personnel. Among the many ABA movers and shakers interviewed in the HBO documentary are Julius Erving, George Gervin, Larry Brown, Hubie Brown, Louis Dampier, Artis Gilmore, Connie Hawkins, Dave DeBusschere, Dan Issel, Bob Costas, Lloyd "Pinky" Gardner (Colonels trainer), and George McGinnis. When the British Empire made its first attempt at quelling our first outburst of liberty, they failed. Why did they fail? It was because we were armed, and may I say, unlike any other people in the world at the time. The British did not expect us to be so uppity and free spirited. And because of us being armed, we finally, through great difficulty and much dedication of our leaders and patriotic soldiers, gained our independence. Friedman was going up on the gallery walls, for his first ever career retrospective "Idealist Propaganda." The first episode focused on Fairey's famous Obama poster, the second episode on a collaboration between Shepard and Glen involving the hardcore group Bad Brains. TODAY: we bring you part 3 of this conversation. This episode's all about Glen's early work documenting skateboarder culture, and the beginnings of American hardcore. Below, an image from the very first roll of color 35mm film Friedman ever shot, which he discusses in this video. Also in today's episode: Glen shares the story behind the Circle Jerks "Golden Shower of Hits" album cover, which he also shot. His work was so much a part of these subcultures, which were in turn so much a part of my own formative years -- so this episode means a lot to me. I hope you dig it. In this lecture, Richard Taruskin reflects on the historiography of music and its embrace of a Whiggish paradigm that he argues has had a deleterious effect on the value and practice of music. Taruskin's extensive work as a scholar and music journalist has earned him the title "America's national musicologist" (Der Spiegel). A specialist in Russian and Soviet music, twentieth-century music, the theory of performance, music and politics, and general historiography, Taruskin has authored and edited numerous books and articles, most recently the six-volume "Oxford History of Western Music" (2005) and "Music in the Western World: A History in Documents" (2007). I tried to mix the song of Perfume. Perfume is one of the top girl's pop unit in Japan. Consisting of 3 members, the group is well known for their futuristic concept and their creative performance. Sound produced by Yasutaka Nakata (capsule) they've achieved many awards in the Japanese market. Multiple gold singles, 1 double platinum album, and 2 gold albums and more. The group made their first major release in the year 2005. The first breakthrough was with their hit single "Polyrhythm" in the year 2007. This song took techno pop music and culture to a mainstream level. Juan Pablo II: Karol Józef Wojtyła1 (Wadowice, Polonia, 18 de mayo de 1920 -- Ciudad del Vaticano, 2 de abril de 2005), más conocido como Juan Pablo II, fue el 264.º papa de la Iglesia católica entre 1978 y 2005.2 Como tal, fue también el Jefe de estado de la Ciudad del Vaticano. Tras haber sido obispo auxiliar (desde 1958) y arzobispo de Cracovia (desde 1962), se convirtió en el primer papa polaco en la historia, y uno de los pocos en los últimos siglos que no nacieron en Italia. Su pontificado de 26 años ha sido el tercero más largo en la historia de la Iglesia católica, después del de San Pedro (se cree que entre 34 y 37 años) y el de Pío IX (31 años).
