This is my home defense set-up. Simple, basic and very thorough. Most importantly, if I was injured, incapacitated or dead, wifey would be able to manage any of these weapons to continue to defend the family. 1). Remington 870 Tactical 12ga. w/ the following modifications: - Surefire G2 Tactical Light - Laserlyte Tri-Rail Mounting System (www.laserlyte.com) - 2-round magazine extension - door breacher - XS Bog Dot front sight, combat ghost ring rear sight - factory forend and buttstock - tac. rail for optics currently using Winchester Double X Magnum 2 3/4" Copperplated 00 Shot **IMPORTANT**: Make sure whatever ammo you use will SAFELY and EFFECTIVELY work in your home without the risk of over-penetration and harming your loved ones! DO NOT just go buy the biggest baddest rounds you can find!!! Fortunately for me, my home has walls that are constructed with sheet rock around a brick and mortar core, so I can turn up the heat in terms of firepower and not risk shooting through the walls of any bedrooms. 2). Glock 19 (9mm) Gen 3 (RTF2) with the following modifications: - Trijicon Night Sights - Streamlight TLR1 Tac Light - Hogue Slip-On Grip currently using Corbon +p 115 gr 9mm ammo 3). The test "target" is 1 drywall on 2x4 studs indicative of most modern home construction. On the back is another piece of 1/2" drywall representing the interior of on adjacent room. In addition, 2 more sets of "walls" are spaced with 36" between. The point of this video has to do with the tremendous lack of respect for various shotgun loads, which could lead in my estimation to catastrophic safety lapses. "Insured by Smith & Wesson" is a great bumpersticker, but also an invitation for crooks to stake out your home and rob your guns when you are not home. Home Defense is something that begins with OPSEC (Operations Security) - basically, keeping your mouth shut! Don't advertise your stockpile of food, supplies or guns. That way, when SHTF, your home will not be a burglary target, and Home Defense will be that much easier!

Here are some of my thoughts and suggestions for home defense. Not saying it's the best plan for everyone, but it may help you develop a plan or improve the one you have. A Mossberg 500 Persuader 12 ga shotgun is my preference, with my Glock 26 9mm CC pistol as a back up. Pick what works best for you, or what you have availible. Rifle only, shotgun, pistol only, rifle with pistol back - whatever. You might even decide to through in a baseball bat as a back up to the back up!! Anyway...just think about it, come up with a plan and the HD items that work for you and your family.

This is a video on home defense and tactical shotgun the deer slug vs Buckshot. The shotguns range can be extended by using deerslugs and I am not saying that a shotgun should be your primary tactical gun for WROL which means with out rule of law or with out role of law as in shit totally hits the fan... However with slugs you can defuse a hostage situation... but with deerslugs over penetration can be an issue. So that is why in this video i talk about the RIO Royal expansive deerslug which gives you a single accurate projectile with out the worry of over penetration.
