Samantha woke at 6:30 am suddenly, I felt her sit up quickly. She said "Patrick, my water broke!" I said "Are you sure?" "Either that or I just peed a whole lot in bed" With that I called Wendy (Midwife) and left a message. Then I began to setup the living room for the birth. Soon I had everything setup, even the pool. Just no water yet. Wendy had called me by then and asked me to wait on the pool. Samantha had other ideas however. She said the baby was coming and I needed to fill the pool because she wanted in. So I began filling the pool and boiling a very large pot of water to adjust the temperature with. Samantha got in as soon as it was warm enough and said it helped a lot with the contractions. She got out to use the toilet but abandon the mission halfway through because she said the pain outside of the pool was too great. Invited guests began to arrive and congregate. Then as Samantha progressed quickly, the congregation began to look at me with great concern. Sam had begun to say she wanted to push. So I called Wendy and asked her when she would be there, and She told me to check to see if I could feel the babies head. Indeed I could. She said she was already on her way and would arrive shortly. I don't remember what time she got there, but it seems like samantha had the baby about an hour after <b>...</b>

My Mother came into the room *she was supposed to be watching our children in the living room* w/ an iPod that she was on Facetime with, with her mother, my grandmother who I haven't spoken to in years, who asked to watch my birth live.... Joel told her to get out b/c she came in being loud and it wasn't what I wanted to hear while I was pushing....& he knew that. & Yes she yelled "I guess I'll just fly my ass back home." She left our home directly afterwards, leaving our children unattended, after cursing at a few birth team members that is & never meeting her granddaughter. She flew home the next day. To this day she expects an apology from us. We have not spoken. A SPECIAL thanks to Amy (dreamflight6000) & her hubby for helping me convert this last file of the birth that has been a pain in my rear for days. Just a little background info I went into labor at 11:30pm and things started in earnest. I never experienced early labor. After about four hours of contractions we called our midwife and when she arrived I was 8 cm dilated. I got in the tub at that point (it felt so good!) and labored there until it was time to push. We moved to the bed so I could get a hang of it, and ended up delivering there after an hour of pushing. All in all it was 7 hours and I am still suprised at how smoothly it went. I'm not going to say it was easy, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I anticipated!

My Son, Eli, born at home on July 23rd 2011 at 00:15, after being 8 days overdue and having 3 membrane sweeps! A fantastic experience, had a 2 hour labour with only gas&air and paracetmol for pain relief. Was almost 9cm dilated by the time the midwifw arrived, and she had only come to drop off the tens machine as i thought i was in for a "long one", but while there she said she'd have to examine me, and so ended up staying. A lovely midwife, completely fantastic! She delivered my daughter Ava too.

I have only been present for my own births of my two babies and honestly, they were a little bit tricky, so this was particularly amazing as it was the first birth I have really ever witnessed. Cade's daddy was in Afghanistan fighting the war on the day he was born, but was able to be there via skype and phone. You will hear his voice throughout the film and see the little camera on the tripod facing Elizabeth. They chose to birth this baby at home in water, and the amount of support Elizabeth had that day was simply beautiful. There are really few words that can be said for this story, you really just have to watch. Congratulations Elizabeth and Jeremy, and welcome home.

I went into labor at 3 in the morning the night after my due date.
